iPad

A word-grid keyboard for every app. Touch, slide, lift: only lifting your finger types. Typikey is a word-grid keyboard for people who find small keys hard to hit. It brings the AAC board you already know to every text field on your iPad: Messages, Mail, Notes, the web. One tap puts in a whole word. Built around one person: an AAC user with cerebral palsy who could take thirty seconds to land one tap on the standard keyboard. His problem is aim, not vocabulary, so Typikey is built to forgive aim: - Touching down never types. Slide your finger to the key you want, and only lifting your finger types it. - Every point on the board belongs to the nearest key. There is no gap between keys to miss. - Hitting the same key twice by accident within half a second is ignored, and that time can be set in Settings. - Keys never change place. Words stay where your hand learned them; suggestions live in their own bar above the board. When a word cannot come next in the sentence, its key may offer one that can. THE BOARD - A home board of core words, colour-coded the way AAC boards are (pronouns yellow, verbs green, nouns orange, social words pink) - Categories one tap away: People, Actions, Feelings, Food, Places, Countries and more, each with a picture - Pages and boards you can build and edit in the app, with your own words, photos, links and whole sentences - Grammar that follows the sentence: after "I am", the go key reads "going"; after "yesterday", it reads "went". The key changes its word, never its place - Word prediction that learns your own words over time - Large letter and number keys for words that are not on the board yet - Whole-word delete with a three-second Undo, and three keyboard sizes - Light or dark, and pictures on keys on or off PRIVATE BY DESIGN Learning happens on your iPad and stays there. The keyboard never connects to the network. Full Access is optional: it lets the keyboard use the boards, pictures and settings you make in the app. Without it, the keyboard still types fully, with its built-in boards and emoji in place of pictures. Back up everything you have made to a single file, and restore it on this iPad or a new one.
