Autograph turns handwriting into engraved music notation. Write a note with Apple Pencil and it becomes a properly engraved note right where you wrote it: on the staff, at the right pitch, in the right place in the bar. WRITE THE WAY YOU THINK • Handwrite notes, rests and more with Apple Pencil • Or tap to place notes, type with the number keys, or play them in from a MIDI keyboard. Every method makes the same edits. • Pencil writes, finger scrolls and zooms, so the page never gets in your way NOTATION THAT LOOKS PUBLISHED • Engraved with the Bravura music font • Automatic beaming, spacing, accidentals and page layout • Multiple voices, chords, ties, slurs, tuplets, grace notes and rolled chords • Time and key signatures, clefs, dynamics, articulations and repeats • Lyrics, including multiple verses, and chord symbols • Piano and multi-staff scores HEAR IT AND SHARE IT • Play your score back and follow along bar by bar • Export to PDF for printing • Import and export MusicXML and MEI, to work with other notation software PAY ONCE Autograph is free to download. Every feature is unlocked for 28 days. After that, a single one-time purchase keeps editing unlocked for good, with no subscription. Reading, playback and export stay free forever, so your scores are never locked away. Autograph works on iPad, and supports the first-generation Apple Pencil.

AUTOGRAPH 1.6.1: WHAT'S NEW SECTIONS • Add a player to one section only, such as a trombone solo in one movement. In Score > Sections, tap the section and choose Add a Part to This Section. The part is left off the page in every other section, and one Undo takes it away again. • Section titles can start over the first bar, as in a book of chorales, as well as centred. Choose in Score Details. MusicXML keeps the choice. COURTESY ACCIDENTALS • When a note comes back in the bar after a different accidental, it gets a reminder accidental. Choose None, Plain or In parentheses in Score Details. • For a single note, choose Notes > Accidental > Courtesy, Courtesy in Parentheses, Hidden or Automatic. • MusicXML and MEI carry them both ways. WRITING • Fill Bar, beside Rest (or Shift-0), finishes the bar with real rests, including inside an unfinished triplet. Before, the grey rests of a short bar were only drawn, so the bar exported short. • The Beam menu is on the bottom bar, beside Grace. • In Re-pitch Mode, each head of a quick Pencil pass re-pitches the note it is drawn on, and heads written one above another make a chord. • In Re-pitch Mode, a rest silences the next note at that note's own length. FIGURED BASS • Hold one line of a figure while another changes: 6 4 with the 4 held, then 5;_, is the 6 falling to 5 over the held 4. Playback hears it. • -;-;- under a note holds each line of the stack as a separate line. _ on its own still holds the whole stack as one line. • A held line now runs under exactly the notes it holds, ending just past the last one, so it no longer reaches the next figure. It is one unbroken line across a barline. • 6_ holds the 6 over the next note. Each further _ holds it one note more. • The option to draw held figures as a dash under each note has been removed. Scores that used it now draw lines. THE AI ASSISTANT (MAC) • The assistant can now write tremolos, on a single note or chord or alternating between two. • It can also move notes to the other staff of a piano part: a whole chord, some of its notes, or a run of bars. • It can attach a dynamic, words or a pedal mark to a particular voice. FIXED • A slur over a leap between two notes now arches instead of drooping off the high note. • A slur over chords goes on the side the stems say. It used to hang under the chords, between the heads and the beam. • Where a slur below one staff meets a slur above the next, the staves move apart so they don't cross, on screen and in the PDF. • Pasting into a bar full of chords now goes in exactly where you put the caret. It could start a note early and write over the chord before it. • The arrow keys now move from chord to chord instead of stopping between the notes of a chord. • Stems and beams of inner voices no longer cross between staves on screen, such as an alto and a tenor in a chorale. • A repeated pattern, like chord, bass, chord, bass, is now beamed flat. • On iPad with a keyboard, words take capitals and question marks, and Shift-letter shortcuts no longer open a field while you type words or chords. • A note tied over a barline no longer prints its accidental again. • Closing a selection with the x on the capsule leaves the caret after the note instead of jumping to bar 1. • A tuplet that starts on a chord no longer closes one note early. • A note added to a chord inside a tuplet is now included in the tuplet's bracket. • Triplets of chords no longer end up nested one inside the other. • A grace note written inside a tuplet no longer takes up the tuplet's room. • In MEI export, a tuplet ending on a chord now closes correctly.
