A career now starts where a real one does: fourteen years old, national karting, and a driver slower than the grid around him. RACE IN REAL TIME — the race runs lap by lap on a clock you control. Pause it, or push it to five times speed. Watch the whole field on the circuit map and talk to your driver while it matters: attack, hold, conserve the tyres, defend. WHEEL TO WHEEL — cars within a second now fight for position, and whether the move sticks depends on your overtaking, their defending and the circuit. TEAMS — eight two-car teams per category, each with its own machinery. You take a real seat, with a teammate to be measured against. CONTRACTS — no more automatic promotion. At the end of a season teams make offers, and you choose between a front-running car in the class you know and the back of the grid one rung higher. QUALIFYING YOU RUN — pick the tyre and when to go out. A late lap gets the rubbered-in track, and loses more than a second if the weather beats you to it. A CAREER THAT ENDS — seasons are recorded, and at forty you hang up the helmet and see everything you did. Also: sponsors, a weather forecast, and six languages.

Fixed: tapping a race on the calendar opened a black screen you could not get out of, and the race never started. The pre-race screen now opens normally. Thanks for reporting it.
