Your passport, over the world. The Passport tab is now a globe — the real one, in satellite imagery — with every country you've been to filled in, and your passport on a sheet you can pull up over it. Drag the sheet down and the planet is yours to turn; pull it up and everything that was there before is exactly where you left it. Zoom in far enough and your states and provinces are filled too, so a country you've crossed half of looks like a country you've crossed half of. It works on a plane. When there's no signal to fetch the imagery, the globe Roam draws itself takes over, and swaps back the moment the tiles arrive — so the tab is never a grey circle in seat 24A. Your bags, in taps instead of gestures. Tap a bag and it now offers to fill itself. The whole list is there with a circle beside every row, and each tap puts something in or takes it out straight away — no picker, no menu, nothing to save. Most of us pack by category, so there's an "Add all" on each one: the clothes into the roller in a single tap. It only ever sweeps what isn't in a bag yet, so a bag you already packed can't be emptied by accident. A bag that was never measured can also be given a size at last, and where a bag is checked against an airline nobody chose, Roam now says the carrier is assumed rather than presenting a guess as a verdict. Roam speaks up about somewhere you've been. Build a list for a city you've been to before and a line appears above it: you've been here, and this many things you packed then aren't on this list yet. Tap it and you're straight into those rows. And a good few things that were simply wrong. Striking an item out while reviewing a new list did nothing at all — it came back on the finished trip, and so did suggestions you'd accepted. Asking Siri to pack something with two words in its name could tick the wrong row entirely, and what Siri ticked didn't reach the Home Screen until you next opened the app. Editing a bag from its own sheet opened nothing. Opening a trip is smoother, too: the card you tapped becomes the screen, and the list settles into place rather than arriving in pieces. The icon has been redrawn — the same luggage tag, better made.

Start a list from a trip you already took. There's a new row in a trip's menu: Start from a past trip. Pick one of the trips you've finished and you'll see what you actually packed that time — quantities, categories, the rows you'd marked essential — ready to tick across in one go. Somewhere you've been before comes top of the list, so a second week in Lisbon starts from the first one. A boarding pass, a ticket, anything that belonged to that one journey stays behind, and nothing arrives already packed. It's the "same as last time" that saving a template never quite managed, because it doesn't ask you to think of it while you're still unpacking. Ask out loud, and read it anywhere. Siri now answers three things about your next trip, with nothing to set up. "Hey Siri, what's left to pack in Roam" gives you the count and the first few — enough to act on while you're still standing at the wardrobe. "How long until my trip in Roam" says today, tomorrow, or the number of days. And "mark something packed in Roam" ticks a row off without you touching the phone, the same way the widget's buttons do. What Siri says and what your widget shows are read from the same place, so the two can never disagree. The widgets got the rest of the attention. If you tint or clear your Home Screen, Roam now shows the same countdown it shows everyone else — the trip in serif, the days, what's left — instead of the older card it used to fall back to. On a charger by the bed, StandBy sets it properly in its slot. And on iOS 27, turning the phone sideways while a trip is counting down keeps the Dynamic Island readable rather than cramped. And one fix that was overdue. When you added or edited an item, choosing a category — or a bag, or a template to save it to — didn't stick: the choice was being overwritten the instant the picker closed, and the keyboard jumped back up every time. That made adding a single item far harder than it had any right to be. It holds now, first tap. Nothing else moved.

Two screens got their best look yet. Your days — the day board behind "Plan your days" — now runs down a date rail: the month and the day set in the margin, the weekday in the serif the rest of Roam uses, and each day's forecast and plans held together beside it. Nothing moved and nothing was added. It simply reads like a printed itinerary now, which is what it always wanted to be. The Home Screen widgets were redrawn around the same idea. Your trip's painting steps back into the margin instead of sitting under the words, so the countdown, the dates and how much of your list is packed are the first things you see. The large widget still lists what you have left to pack, and tapping a row still packs that item without opening Roam. Those two, and nothing else. No new questions, no new settings, nothing to learn.

You can start over. Profile, at the bottom: Delete all data. It erases every trip and packing list, your bags, templates, passport countries and your profile — from this device and from the copy in your own iCloud — and then Roam starts again from the first question, the way it did the day you installed it. There was no way to do that before. Deleting the app and installing it again is what most people try, and it brings everything back: that iCloud copy exists so a new phone finds your trips waiting, and it cannot tell the difference between a new phone and someone who wanted a clean slate. Now Roam can. It asks first, and the question names exactly what goes. Trips you share stop being shared, and you leave the trips other people shared with you. Your subscription isn't affected — it belongs to your Apple Account rather than to anything Roam keeps — so nothing needs buying again. And if Roam cannot reach your iCloud when you ask, it deletes nothing at all and says so, rather than emptying your phone and leaving the copy behind. Weddings and other dressy occasions have their own activity now. Tick Wedding or event and Roam packs a formal outfit and dress shoes, and suggests a garment bag and a steamer to get them there uncreased. Tag each event on its own day in your plans — a rehearsal dinner and the wedding — and it packs an outfit for each. Every trip style now has three painted backgrounds instead of one, so two beach trips need not look like the same trip twice. Open a trip, tap the three dots, and pick the one you want — the paintings are ours, the choice is yours, and nothing about it slows down making a trip in the first place. The packing list got roomier. The tab bar used to sit across the bottom of it, and inside a list the one thing nobody wants is four ways to leave — so it steps aside while a trip is open and comes back when you close it. One more row fits, and the last item no longer fades out behind glass. Leaving a trip somebody shared with you now really does leave it. The trip used to disappear from your phone while the person who sent it still had you on their copy — Roam was asking iCloud for something it does not allow and never noticed being refused. There is a short entry about Delete all data in Profile, under How to, next to what Roam keeps and where.

Bag Fit now checks a checked bag the way most airlines actually measure it. Most carriers set their checked-bag limit as a total — length, width and depth added together, usually 158 cm. Roam was checking each side on its own instead, so a long, slim case that the airline would happily take could be called too large. It now checks the total, for the 38 airlines that publish it that way. Carry-on is unchanged, because that really is a box. TAP Air Portugal is in the list, at a subscriber's request. That makes 48. Adding things is faster. Start typing and Roam offers the item by the name it knows, already in the right section. Search for something that isn't on your list and you can add it right there, instead of being told to try another word. Rename an item and the name now stays put. Before, editing the trip afterwards could quietly undo your rename — tick, bag and note included. That's fixed. And a hand-typed item now counts toward your bag's weight properly: "beach towels" weighs the same as "beach towel".

Small visual work. Nothing new to learn, nothing moved. The plan you choose on the subscription screen now reads as chosen without shouting — a soft green fill and an outline, so the button you actually press stays the loudest thing on the page. The reviews underneath are set as quotations on the paper rather than in a box of their own. On the first screen, the name field's border now follows its own corners instead of breaking at them, and it takes Roam's green rather than the colour this app uses for errors. The trip name field got the same attention. Everything you had is where you left it.

You can now set a time for when you leave, not just a date. It's optional. Leave it alone and everything works exactly as it did — the countdown runs to the start of your departure day, the way it always has. Set it, and the clock counts down to the hour you actually go, on your trip card and on the Home Screen. Also in this one, and it changes nothing you can see: purchases are now reported for advertising measurement from our billing provider's server rather than from your phone, so the same purchase stops being counted twice. The permission prompt, what it asks, and what declining does are all unchanged — declining still limits nothing.

Roam 1.10 is an interface pass. The four questions Roam asks when you make a trip now come in the order the list is actually built from, and each says what it buys you. Picking Family as the trip type fills in that you're travelling with kids, where you can see it and change it, instead of quietly meaning nothing. The checklist reads properly on paper, and the mark on an essential no longer looks like a warning. The paywall was the one screen still set in scaling type, and at larger text sizes it came apart — a hyphenated headline, a line cut mid-word, a card under the button. It is set the way every other screen is now, and it can go dark. Roam also tells you when there's a newer version on the App Store, once, with a Not now that it remembers. The permission prompt for advertising measurement now comes after you buy rather than the moment the paywall appears. It asks the same thing, and declining still changes nothing.

Roam 1.9 is about the weather being right. A traveller wrote in to say the list THE WEATHER FOR THE PLACE YOU ARE GOING TO Some destinations were taking their figures from a weather station in the wrong place. Tenerife's came from an observatory 2,371 metres up Mount Teide, so January read 8° for an island whose resorts sit at 21°. The Grand Canyon's came from the bottom of the canyon rather than the rim you stand on, and read twelve degrees too hot in July. Chamonix's came from an alpine pass above it, Sicily's from a hill town inland. Roam now picks a station by height as well as distance, and fifteen places whose map pin sat on a summit rather than a shoreline have been moved down to where you would actually stay. Thirty-one destinations changed station and twelve kept theirs on better terms; none ended up on a station further above or below the place than before. Checked against published normals, the figures are about four times closer than they were. Six more places have offline climate that had none: Cancún, Havana, Auckland, Ho Chi Minh City, Nouméa and Port Moresby — 360 in all. And where Roam still has no figures for somewhere, it says so and asks you rather than quietly building the list for mild weather. COLD MORNINGS UNDER WARM AFTERNOONS Cusco in June is 21° by day and 2° at night. Roam had always said "with cool evenings" on the trip screen and then packed nothing for them, because the rule that adds a layer only ran on trips inside forecast range. It now reads the nineteen degrees from the climate figures too, and puts the layer in. TWO THINGS THAT WERE WRONG Suggestions you accepted were being deleted the next time you changed anything about the trip — the dates, the bag, a stop — and never offered again, while a dialog promised Roam keeps what you have ticked off. It does now. "One per day, plus a spare" appeared under Underwear on every trip without laundry, including the three bag sizes where Roam had already packed fewer than that. The sentence now describes the arithmetic that actually ran.

Roam 1.8 is a finishing pass. Nothing here is new to learn — the controls you already use are better made, and three things that were quietly wrong are right. THE SWITCHERS AND THE SEARCH FIELDS ARE ONE THING NOW Every switcher in Roam — the passport's collections, the trips filter, Bag Fit, the checklist, and the three in your profile — is the same control, lit the same way. On iOS 26 the track is glass and only the chosen option is tinted. Below 26 it is a material that does the same job. Either way the row of options reads as one control with one choice in it, rather than as a row of badges. The two search fields had quietly disagreed about what focus looks like. The passport's rested on a hairline and brightened when you tapped it; the checklist's had no edge at all until touched, and then a fainter one. They are the same field now, and it is the better of the two. A MARK FOR EACH CONTINENT The passport's continent rows carried a disc with a two-letter code in it. Each now carries a small drawing of the continent itself, cut from the same atlas the globe is drawn from. Finishing a continent still earns its gold edge. THREE THINGS THAT WERE WRONG Filter your trips to Pinned with nothing pinned and Roam told you to press and hold a trip. Pressing and holding does nothing — pinning has always been in each trip's ··· menu. It now says so. Onboarding still described the world as fifty states and thirteen provinces. 1.7 opened six more countries, so it is eight countries and 208 states and provinces, and the picture it shows is the globe rather than the flat map it replaced. The step about planning your days had no picture at all and had been drawing a diagram in its place since it was written. It has the real thing now. ALSO Roam asks to be rated when you finish a packing list, rather than only after a trip has ended. Still once, ever.

Roam 1.7 turns your passport's world into a globe, and gives six more countries an inside. THE WORLD IS A GLOBE The flat map on your passport is a globe now. Drag to turn the earth, pinch to magnify, tap a country to mark it. It stays round however far you go in — the map used to square itself off and cut the world's corners away as you zoomed. RESET brings the whole world back. Zoom past the halfway mark and countries open into their states and provinces, which you can mark one at a time. Tap the line that counts your states in a country and the globe turns to it and settles at the right distance on its own. The world names itself as you go. Continents at rest, then countries as you pinch in — the largest first and more of them the closer you get, the way a map has always done it. A name is only printed where its own country has the room, measured along the line the word actually sits on, so nothing is ever written across a border and into somebody else. SIX MORE COUNTRIES HAVE INSIDES Australia, Brazil, China, India, Indonesia and South Africa join the United States and Canada. That takes Roam from 64 states and provinces it can draw and count to 208. Each one answers to whatever your phone calls it. Apple Maps writes "West Java" where the atlas writes "Jawa Barat", and both now land on the same place instead of counting as two. MARKING A PROVINCE MARKS THE COUNTRY You cannot have been to Eastern Cape and not South Africa. Marking a state or a province by hand left the country itself unvisited — grey on the map, and absent from your country count, your share of the world and your tier. Anything you marked before this is counted the next time you open Roam. PLANS FOLLOW WHAT YOU TELL US Say you are going to Illinois and Roam offers what it knows about Chicago, under Chicago's name, rather than nothing at all. The more precisely you name the place, the more precisely it answers. And when you name a city Roam has nothing for, it looks as far as 250 miles out and offers the nearest places it does know, with the distance to each written in your own units. A TRIP READS BETTER Weather is a titled card now rather than a strip between two rules, so a row of temperatures says what it is, and the day board is a card beside it. Both carry a lit edge that the rest of the page does not. DARK MODE WENT COOLER The near-black behind everything had a warm cast in it that stopped reading as paper at night and started reading as a smudge on the panel. It is a cooler, deeper charcoal now, and every piece of type standing on it gained contrast. The warmth moved into the ink, which is where it belongs. AN APP ICON FOR LIGHT MODE The icon follows your phone's appearance: the same luggage tag, on paper by day and charcoal by night. ALSO IN THIS RELEASE The passport you share says "% of 247" under its percentage, so a reader can tell what it was divided by. Searching for a destination no longer opens with a rule above the first result.

Roam 1.6 is an accessibility release. If you use VoiceOver, Smart Invert, Reduce Transparency or Differentiate Without Color, this one is for you — and if you travel outside the United States, your dates and weights finally read the way your phone writes them. VOICEOVER REACHES EVERYTHING Rename, Move up, Move down and Delete category on a packing list, and Rename, Duplicate and Delete on a template, were only ever available through a menu VoiceOver could not open. Several of them had no other route at all. Swipe up or down on a row and they are all there now. SMART INVERT LEAVES THE PICTURES ALONE Every painting, photograph and city image is held out of Smart Invert, so the interface inverts and the artwork does not. The camera in Bag Fit is held out too, which matters more than it sounds: lining a frame up with the edges of a suitcase is genuinely hard in a negated room. REDUCE TRANSPARENCY DOES SOMETHING It used to do nothing here. Now the washes behind type become paper — on the departure card, in the new-trip flow, through onboarding, and on the bag scanner, where the instructions could previously disappear into their own panel. THE MAP READS WITHOUT COLOUR Wishlist countries carry a printed hatch and visited states a cross-hatch, so the map says where you have been by more than its colours. Island nations too small to draw as shapes switch from solid to outlined. DATES AND NUMBERS IN YOUR OWN NOTATION Set your region to the United Kingdom and a trip reads "6 Aug" rather than "Aug 6". Set it to Germany and a bag weighs "8,4 kg". Roam had been printing American dates at everybody, including readers whose own phone disagreed on the same screen. LARGER TEXT The trip filter stacks into full-width rows at accessibility text sizes instead of squeezing four labels into the width, headlines wrap instead of shrinking, and a long press on any tab shows its name enlarged. ALSO IN THIS RELEASE Things to do now covers every stop on a multi-stop trip, not just the first — and when you take one, only that city's days are offered, so a Chicago plan cannot land on a New York day. Recently marked fills the row it is given rather than stopping at five. Tier III is now called Navigator.

Roam has something to say about where you're going. THINGS TO DO, WRITTEN DOWN Open a trip's days and tap Need plans? — Roam has written suggestions for 139 places across the United States and Europe. Real things: the Lakefront Trail, a granita and brioche for breakfast in Sicily, the tiled terrace above Lisbon. Institutions and landmarks are named because those outlive us; anything whose answer is a business is described instead, because businesses close and a dead name is worse than none. Tap one and it becomes yours — rename it, move it to a day, delete it. Two hundred and thirty-seven of them carry a photograph. Every line was written for the place, then checked by a second reader who had not written it. Three hundred and thirty-two claims were corrected rather than kept, and the entries that could not be verified were dropped instead of guessed at. CANADA, PROVINCE BY PROVINCE Zoom into the map and Canada now opens the way the United States has since 1.3 — ten provinces and three territories, filled in by the cities on your own trips. Prince Edward Island included, which took some doing: it sits outside the outline Roam draws for Canada, and would have been quietly erased by the very clip that keeps every other border honest. THE MAP KNOWS WHAT IT IS COUNTING A province and a state can no longer be confused for one another, however they were spelled. Québec with its accent and QC without it are one province now, not two — the same fix the fifty states got in 1.3, arriving under a different flag. ONBOARDING SHOWS THE DAYS Roam demonstrated five things and did eight. The day board and the map's inside now have pages of their own, so nobody has to find them by accident. A MAP BUTTON THAT WORKS, OR NONE AT ALL A plan with no address used to offer a Maps button anyway, and handing "Lunch with Sarah" to Maps searches a city for a phrase naming nothing in it. The field is called Address now, and the button appears only when there is one. ALSO • The Lifetime offer in Profile looked exactly like the settings around it. It does not any more. • The paywall names the day board and the suggestions, which it never did.

Roam stopped guessing on your behalf — and started planning the days, not just the bag. PLAN YOUR DAYS A trip is now two things: the list, and the days. Lay the trip out day by day and write down what you mean to do — a place, a note, a day, or "sometime this trip" if you haven't decided. You type them, so they work on a plane and never go out of date. Inside ten days each day shows the weather hour by hour; further out, it tells you exactly when those hours arrive rather than showing you nothing. And tag a plan with an activity — snorkelling, hiking, a gym — and Roam packs for it. Delete the plan and it takes what it added back out. Your checklist is untouched until you go looking for it, in the trip's ••• menu. FIND ANYWHERE, WITH HALF THE WORD Destination search now finds places as you type rather than waiting for the whole name. Type "la rio" and La Rioja is the first thing you see. Type "barcel" and you get Barcelona, Barceloneta and Barcelonnette, not one guess. ONE TAP TO PACK WITH SOMEONE Sharing a trip used to be the last line of a menu. If you told Roam you're travelling with a partner, friends or kids, the invite now sits at the top of the trip, next to Pack all — because you already said there was somebody to send it to. IT ASKS ABOUT LAUNDRY NOW On a long trip Roam used to quietly decide you would wash clothes partway through, cut your packing to a week, and print a note about a laundry day nobody had mentioned. Twelve nights in a hotel with no machine is five days short of socks. Now it asks — one tap when you build the trip — and packs for the answer. Say nothing and it behaves exactly as it always has. IT WORKS OUT WHETHER YOU'RE LEAVING THE COUNTRY Chicago to New York no longer arrives with the passport switch on. Tell Roam where you're leaving from and it reads the answer off the trip. Change your mind and it stays changed — unless the trip itself changes from domestic to international, which is exactly when a stale answer costs you a passport. BUY IT ONCE, FROM INSIDE THE APP If you are on the weekly or yearly plan you can now switch to Lifetime from the Profile tab. It shows the real price, it is a one-off, and nothing renews. Roam tells you plainly afterwards that your old subscription is separate and still needs cancelling — Apple will not do that part for you, and you lose nothing by doing it. THE LOCK SCREEN, WHERE YOU CAN ACTUALLY SEE IT Packing progress on the Lock Screen used to appear only in the last two days before a trip, and only if you found the switch in Settings. It is now on from the start and shows for the four days before you go. If iOS is blocking it, Profile says so and takes you to the setting that fixes it. A WIDGET WITH NOTHING IN IT IS STILL A WAY IN The Lock Screen and Home Screen widgets used to say "No trip yet" and do nothing when tapped. Now they say "Tap to start one", and they do. A HOW-TO THAT ONLY EXPLAINS THE HARD PARTS Profile now has a How to section covering the things you cannot find by looking — where sharing lives, why held-back suggestions don't count towards your total, what a rebuild keeps, and why a plan reaches the list on the next rebuild rather than the moment you type it. Nothing in it explains the plus button. ALSO • The trip builder's last step now shows what your activities actually add. • Naming a trip, choosing where you're leaving from, and the day-to-day of the Profile tab all got quieter and easier to read. • The Dynamic Island clipped the first letter of a destination — "New York" arrived with its N sheared off. • A long destination now shrinks to fit rather than trailing off into an ellipsis.

A passport that turns over, and a map that goes closer. TURN THE PASSPORT OVER Tap your passport and it flips. On the back is the distance you have actually travelled — every finished trip, added up, in kilometres or miles. A RANGE, BECAUSE THAT IS THE TRUTH Roam never invents a number it cannot stand behind. The floor is the real distance between the two places; the ceiling allows for the fact that nothing travels in a straight line. Trips it had to guess at are marked, and it tells you plainly how much of your record it could measure and how much it could not. SAY WHERE YOU LEAVE FROM Set a home airport or city once in the Passport tab and every new trip starts there. Override it on a single trip, change it on a trip you have already taken, or clear it entirely. Nothing is assumed without saying so. THE UNITED STATES, STATE BY STATE Zoom into the map and the country resolves into all fifty states and the District of Columbia. Tap one and Roam shows what put it there — the cities on your own trips. Been somewhere Roam was never told about? Mark it yourself, exactly like a country. CITIES UNDER THE COUNTRIES A passport that counts only countries flattens a lot of travelling. Roam now counts the places themselves, and the states and regions they sit in, alongside the flags. A trip that only ever said "Japan" still earns the flag — and honestly claims no city, because you never named one. YOUR SAVED LISTS NOW COMBINE Pick more than one template when you build a trip and Roam lays them into a single list, keeping one row for anything they share, at the larger quantity and the higher priority. You choose the order, and you can change it. DROP A LIST ONTO A TRIP ALREADY UNDER WAY Decided on Thursday that the camera is coming after all? Open the trip, choose Add from a template, and take only the rows you want. Anything already on your list is shown and explained rather than quietly skipped. ALSO FIXED • A state could be counted twice when one trip spelled it "Illinois" and another "IL". • Roam said "1 places" and "1 states". It now says "1 place" and "1 state". • A trip that had already happened still asked for a weather forecast it could never get. • The heading on the post-trip review sheet sat under the drag handle.

Pack into the bag, not just the list. INTO THE BAG Give a trip its bags, then file each item into one. See the checklist by bag, or open a bag and see only what goes in it. Change the dates, add a stop, let Roam rebuild the list — everything stays where you put it. EVERY BAG GRADED, EACH AGAINST ITS OWN LIMIT A personal item, a carry-on and a checked case are three different allowances. Roam now grades all of a trip's bags together, on the trip's own screen, each against the published limit for its class. WHAT IT WEIGHS BEFORE YOU LIFT IT Roam estimates what a bag's contents come to, from typical masses for 148 everyday things. Always a range, never a false decimal, and always labelled — estimated, part-weighed, or weighed. It never overrules the airline verdict; that still comes from the weight you measured yourself. PACKING PROGRESS ON THE LOCK SCREEN Open Roam in the two days before you leave and your progress sits on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, so the last few things get ticked off without unlocking. It stays off until you switch on "Lock Screen while packing" in the Profile tab. WIDGETS WITH SOMETHING BEHIND THEM Small, medium and large widgets are now drawn on the trip's own painting — the ski lodge, the parasol, the tent by the lake. The small one says where you're going instead of running out of room, and the weather glyphs are no longer black in light mode. COLOUR THAT MEANS SOMETHING All eight packing categories have their own pigment, checked for contrast in both light and dark mode. The progress bar at the top of a trip is split into those same colours, so you can see at a glance that it's the toiletries you haven't started. BUY IT ONCE Roam is now sold outright as well as weekly and yearly. Buy the lifetime option and nothing renews — there is nothing to cancel. ALSO FIXED • A bag over its limit said "on its longest side" whichever side had actually failed. It now names the side that did. • The unfilled part of the progress bar is visible in light mode, and the checklist header gave back a row it was wasting.

One trip, many stops A trip can now go to more than one place. Add each stop, say how many nights you're there, and Roam divides the trip between them — then builds one packing list that covers the whole route. The forecast, for where you're actually going Roam now reads the real forecast for your destination on the days you'll be there, and folds it into what it suggests you pack. Rain in one city and heat in the next means you're packed for both. Forecasts from Apple Weather. Your passport fills itself in Finish a trip and you've earned that country's flag. Scratch it off to claim it.
