DriveTone adds engine sounds that respond in real time to your driving — complete with simulated gear changes and realistic vibrations.
Press START and the engine comes to life. As you sit at a standstill, a satisfying idle envelops you. Roll down the windows to hear even more detail. Subtle vibrations complete the experience. As you pull away, the sound transforms into a roaring engine, punctuated by simulated gear shifts that land with a satisfying "thunk".
How does it work? DriveTone uses your iPhone’s motion sensors and GPS speed estimates to simulate a realistic powertrain that responds to your driving. No extra hardware required!
Additional Features:
- Choose between Normal and Sport shifting modes based on your mood.
- Audio-based haptics add a deeper layer to the experience. Tune the low-frequency sound to suit your car’s stereo and find the feel you like.
- Pick from multiple cars based on real recordings, each with its own engine sound and character.
- Works with wired (recommended) and wireless CarPlay, Bluetooth, and aux (if your stereo supports it). Compatibility varies by audio system.
- With CarPlay, you can start and stop your drive session and adjust the simulation directly from the CarPlay screen.
- Set up an automation to launch DriveTone whenever your iPhone connects to CarPlay or your car’s Bluetooth.

Start with 30 minutes of free driving. After that, continue with free 2-minute drives, with a 5-minute wait between drives. Unlimited driving is available with an annual subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase. Eligible users can start an annual subscription with a 7-day free trial. Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled.
