■ The shelf now has a comics side Novels and comics are kept apart, one switch at the top of the shelf away from each other. Comic sources are added the way novel ones are: paste a page and let 書房 work the site out. Nothing ships built in. ■ Comics download for offline reading too Tick the episodes you want and their images are stored on the device — readable in flight mode. Delete them one episode at a time, and see how much space they take. ■ Comics export as a ZIP, and come back the same way A downloaded comic is written out as a folder for the comic, a folder per chapter and the pages inside — nothing app-specific, so any unzipping tool shows you a comic. A ZIP in that shape imports straight onto the shelf, and a comic too big for one archive is split into parts that go back together.

■ Opens on the book you are reading A new Reading tab lists the books you have been in, newest first. Tap one to return to the sentence you stopped at, instead of hunting for it on the shelf. Choose how many rows it keeps, or clear it, in Settings. ■ Page turns land in one go Tapping to turn no longer stops half way and slides into place a moment later. Scrolled chapters can also reach 100%. ■ Long books stay responsive Contents and download lists of over a thousand chapters draw faster, and the memory a long reading session holds is given back when the system needs it.

■ Progress follows what you can actually see While scrolling, your percentage now comes from the paragraphs on screen. It moves as you read, changes chapter when you do. ■ The contents and the reader agree Opening a book from the contents, or from Continue reading, lands on the paragraph the header just told you about, not half a chapter away. ■ You can go back after jumping After jumping to a chapter from the toolbar, scrolling up or tapping the top edge reaches the previous chapter again. Scrolling fast then tapping the chapter buttons moves one chapter, not several. ■ No stutter at chapter boundaries A chapter is no longer laid out all at once, so the pause when crossing into the next one is gone. ■ Contents order is one small button It sits at the right end of the contents header, shows the direction the list is in, and flips on a tap.

■ Progress down to the paragraph Your shelf now shows the chapter and how far into it you got. ■ Contents that know where you are The chapter you were last reading is pinned at the top. Contents can run first chapter first or newest first, remembered per book. Opening the contents while reading lands on the current chapter instead of chapter one. ■ Controls that stay out of the text Bringing up the controls no longer shifts the line you were reading. The top is now a capsule floating over the page with the chapter name and your progress through it. ■ Tap to turn pages while scrolling Turn it on in reading settings: the right side and bottom go on, the left side and top go back, and the middle brings up the controls. ■ Smoother scrolling No more stutter when a chapter ends, and after jumping chapters from the toolbar you can scroll back into the previous one.

■ Import and export Import txt and epub files from your device, and export any book on your shelf as TXT or EPUB. "Open in Shufang" from another app works too. Re-importing the same file lands on the same book, so your progress survives. ■ Page-turning mode Reading settings now offer scrolling or page turns. Both share one reading position, so switching mid-book leaves you on the same paragraph. ■ Highlights and bookmarks Long-press and drag to highlight a sentence in page mode, or long-press to highlight a whole paragraph while scrolling; either way both modes show the marks. Any spot can be saved as a bookmark and synced over iCloud. ■ Downloads finish after you leave the app Switch away mid-download and Shufang finishes the chapter in hand before stopping, then picks up the rest later instead of stalling in silence. ■ You choose which network downloads use Wi-Fi only by default, with a prompt before any cellular use (a personal hotspot counts as cellular). Leaving Wi-Fi mid-download pauses the queue and says why. ■ Shelf arrangement and new-chapter marks Sort by title, recently read or date added; group by source and filter. Chapters a site adds after your first catalog are marked.
