The archive can be read in other languages. A steward publishes one and it reaches the app without an update; choose it under Language in the Reading room. Anything not yet translated is shown in English, line by line, and counts, dates and numbers follow the language you are reading in. The archive's own writing — records, place names and captions — stays in the language it was catalogued in. A catalogue record now says what light the recording was made in: the phase of the day, the sun's height, sunrise and sunset, how long after sunset, the moon, and the season for that hemisphere. The weather row says whether its reading came from a nearby station or a model. Every take now carries its own date, place and camera inside the file itself, in the same tags an iPhone original writes — so a recording that outlives its paperwork still says when and where it was made. For witnesses: a held take plays back on the review screen instead of sitting on a black frame, and takes held before an app update are found again afterwards. A returned recording can be hidden from Your Record — hidden, not deleted; a steward still reads it, and you can bring it back. At enrolment the printed certificate is now offered first, since it is the recovery route you can complete on your own. Signing in with Apple for the first time now creates the account properly; before, the reading room could open on blank rows until a second sign-in. And if the app fails, it says so and offers a reload rather than an empty screen — nothing accessioned is affected.

Today's recording now opens its catalogue record — the place, the coordinates, the accession number and everything else the archive keeps about it. Tap the details under the recording. A vertical recording now fills the width of its catalogue record, rather than sitting in a narrow column with half the screen dark either side of it. Full screen still shows every recording whole, at its true shape and uncropped. Recording a moment now offers both choices on one screen: keep the take privately in your record, or submit it to a steward for accession. It was possible to record something and reasonably believe it had been submitted when it had not. Leaving a take without doing either now asks first, rather than quietly discarding twelve seconds. For witnesses choosing a printed certificate at enrolment: the certificate is now offered once your witness number exists, and carries it. Before, it could be shared before the number had been issued. Recordings are steadier. The camera's own stabilisation is now used while a take is running — the archive still never edits, trims or re-frames what it receives.
