Blend into the background. Get caught, and you become an Oni.
Oekaki Kakurenbo is an online hide-and-seek battle for up to 10 players, where you paint your own character to disappear into the scenery.
- Paint yourself, blend in
You are Fuku. In the prep phase you freely paint your character to match the ground and walls. Eyedropper to grab the exact background color, airbrush to soften edges, adjustable brush size. Paint well enough and the Oni will walk right past you.
- The Oni hunts for what looks wrong
Oni tap the spot they suspect and fire. Ammo is limited. If every Oni runs dry, the Fuku win on the spot. Don't spray blindly: look for the one patch of color that doesn't belong.
- Get found, and you join them
A caught Fuku turns into an Oni and starts hunting their former teammates. Catch everyone in time and the Oni win; survive with even one Fuku left and the Fuku win.
- The prep phase decides it
Fuku walk while painting to open up the map. Only the opened area becomes the hunting ground. Oni collect meat to evolve into a Red Oni, then a Dragon, gaining range and ammo. How far you push, and where you start painting: those few dozen seconds decide the match.
- Nerve earns rank
Survive close calls right under an Oni's nose and rank up: Kofuku, Daifuku, God of Fortune. Hiding in a safe corner won't win it.
- The reveal is the best part
When the round ends, everyone's hiding spot is revealed. "You were there the whole time?!" is the sweetest moment in this game.
- Also
Use a code for a friends-only room, or jump into a random match with strangers. CPUs fill empty slots, so you can play solo. Distinct maps: volcano, frozen sea, jungle ruins and more. Turn a photo from your phone into a pixel-art map with My Map. Reactions are emoji and preset phrases only, with no free-text chat.
