Cauldron: Token Printer
speak to print life counter
Free · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
Say the name of a card. It comes out of your printer.
Cauldron is the life counter that prints tokens.
Hold the microphone, say "goblin" or "4/4 angel with flying" or "treasure," and the card is found, dithered and printed on receipt paper in about a second.
LIFE COUNTER
• Drag from one seat to another to deal commander damage. Partner commanders are counted apart.
• Draw a glyph on a seat to give it the monarch, poison, energy, experience, rads or the city's blessing.
• Three fingers across the board starts a new game. Two fingers opens the settings.
• Circle the dial to undo and redo.
• Supports up to 8 players in a pod (7+ on iPad / tablet only)
• Say "2/4/6/8 players" to change the game size.
• Archenemy and Treachery, dealt and printed by the app.
• This is a full-fledged life counter, without menus.
THE PRINTER
• Cauldron drives the Phomemo M110, MUNBYN FM226 and NETUM NT-861 over Bluetooth, and the Brother QL-710W and QL-810W over Wi-Fi.
• The NT-861 cuts each card off the roll, at real card size or sized to fit a sleeve.
• The printers use no ink - merely fast heat transfer to receipt paper, they will not smear.
• A print queue lines up as many cards as you like, shows what is left, and can be stopped and carried on.
DICE AND COINS AND MORE
• Say "roll a d20" or "flip a coin."
• Four, six, eight, ten, twelve, twenty and a hundred sides...
• all announced out loud by a voice synthesizer that sounds like it was built in 1982.
• "Momir {number}" to get a random creature. Say "Calling Mr. Vig" for a standalone Momir Vig faux-payphone interface.
• Say "copy camera" to photograph a card and print it as a copy.
THE TOKEN INDEX
Say "token index" or hold four fingers on the board to open it.
• Browse and search every printable token, by name or by artist, with filters for each kind of token.
• Swipe through each token's artwork and print the one you like.
• Tap an artwork to keep it out of random picks, or long-press to always print that one.
• SHUFFLE, RANDOM and SEQUENTIAL control how artwork is dealt when you ask by voice.
• A UB switch keeps Universes Beyond artwork out of random picks.
• Create your own tokens, and add your own artwork to or photo library.
• Favorites: drag the heart onto artwork you love, then print one, print them all, or share them as an Instagram story.
• See any card full screen, with the artist credited u
• Tap (i) for a guide to everything.
THE CARD INDEX
Say "card index" to open it.
• Every real Magic card, held on your phone, to search, sort and print.
• Browse by set, and print a booster pack.
• Print a whole card, or just its art or its words.
GAME MODES
• Archenemy, Treachery, Planechase
• Chaos draft
Every token is indexed on your phone, so lookup is quick.
Speech is recognised on the device.
Nothing about your game is uploaded anywhere.
No Accounts. No Signups.

more Great app functions great! Wish there were video instructions for printers they recommend. I bought the phomemo printer and 2 1/4 paper and that threw me off because the printer only takes up to 2in paper rolls. I figured out that you just remove the fixture that hold the rolls and just let it float on the inside. Prints perfectly but I was so confused when figuring it out.
Developer Response video tutorials are on our instagram (linked in settings) @cauldrontokenprinter - reach out anytime for assistance.

The app works very well and fixes a big problem I always have with MTG…never having all the right tokens!Requests: I wish there was a settings button, or some way to open settings.I would also like to be able to play with more than 4 players
Developer Response two-finger swipe to open settings. variable seat counts coming soon.

This this is so handy, just put the tokens in a sleeve to reuse (I know everyone has a few laying around). Only question Is that is there a way to print more than one with a command ? Like if I were to print 2 token identical creatures because of a spell?
Developer Response good feedback. i'll add that to the list!

Seems to be stuck in dual mode once swapped over had to delete it and reinstall to get back to 4 player mode, any way to add that option in settings?
Developer Response you rotate the phone to change. next version has a fix in settings. sorry, didn't realize that would be so unintuitive. also added a tutorial step for it.

minor bugfixes
1.1.1 3h ago
Every real card
- A new Card Index holds every Magic card on the phone to search, sort, browse by set, and print.
- Tokens, planes, schemes and Momir now come from that on-phone file, so they work without asking Scryfall.
Packs and drafts (NT-861 only)
- Print a booster pack of any set from the set picker, with real pack odds and a wrapper.
- Cauldy's Chaos Draft: spin a wheel of boosters, three packs a player. Hold "Card Index" header until chaos breaks loose.
Printing
- A print queue: line up cards, see what is left, stop or resume, and a failed card is held, not dropped.
- Support for the NETUM NT-861 cutting receipt printer: real-size cards, sleeve-size pack cards, and an out-of-paper warning.
- Long queues pace themselves so a small printer does not overheat.
- Clearer help when a printer is stuck, has a flickering paper sensor, has a blank roll, or is held by another app.
New things to print
- "Copy camera": photograph a card and print it as the copy another card makes of it.
- Unfinity sticker sheets, and a new Elemental Cat token.
- The camera flips, frames tall or wide, and photos can be turned.
At the table
- Partner commanders are tracked separately for commander damage.
- The game clock pauses while the app is in the background.
- The dial shows battery as a dot from green to red, and shows when the phone is charging.
- Simpler settings, and a link to the website's full feature guide.
Fixes
- Fixed a crash during the minigames.
1.1.0 8h ago
New features
- Time travel (undo/redo): hold the speak dial and circle it. Counter-clockwise rewinds/undo, clockwise fastforwards/redo. one full turn arms it, then each half turn is one step. Reaches back one game.
- Create your own tokens: a new "CREATE" section in the token index. Set a name, type line, rules, flavor text, power/toughness, colors, credit and a custom phrase to say. Add artwork afterwards like any token.
- "Camera" voice command: say "camera", "photo" or "take a picture" to print whatever the camera shoots. Nothing is saved. great for a card like Deadpool who 'steals' another card's text box.
- "Commander tax" voice command: prints a small slip (TAX, +2 to +10) to tuck under your commander and track the tax.
- Planar deck control: tap a plane or phenomenon in the token index to leave it out of the shuffled deck.
- Add several custom artworks at once from your photo library (up to 20).
- Join the Cauldron Discord row in settings.
New and updated 'missing' tokens
- Added Djinn (CAC015), Goblin Scout (CAC016) and Camarid (CAC017).
- Added Urami (CAC018) by Tedd G, the Demon Spirit from Tomb of Urami.
Improvements
- Settings panel now turns to face whichever way you hold the phone (landscape, phones only).
- Gesture guide prints from a green "Test print - gesture guide" button next to the paired printer.
- Links for the printers in UK, Germany and Canada, link destination chosen by region.
Fixes
- Two players tapping their own seats at the same moment now both register.
- Munbyn FM226: line-art cards no longer feed extra blank paper after printing.
- Scrolling a long plane's text no longer makes the token index jump.

New ways to play
• Treachery. The hidden-role variant, for pods of 4 to 8. Turn it on in settings. Cauldron deals every seat a role in secret. Hold the dial, drag to your seat, and your card prints while everyone else looks away. Play roles only, or with all 62 identity cards. The board reveals a player's role when they are out and announces the side that wins.
• Archenemy. One player against the table, for pods of 3 to 8. Hold the dial and drag to the archenemy's seat: they start on 40, everyone else on 20. Say "scheme" on the archenemy's turn to print the next card from their scheme deck.
Printing
• Brother QL label printers over Wi-Fi. Found on your network and paired like any other printer, with every card cut to size. Product link in settings.
Tokens
• New art: Jellyfish, Li'l Giri and Tetravite.
• Goldmeadow Harrier now prints as a token. Goldmeadow Lookout creates it.
• Lifelink, Menace and Reach join the creature designation labels.
Also
• Settings shows your offline cache: how many tokens and print-ready artworks are stored. A notice by the dial tells you when the token index is rebuilding after an update.
• Printer and paper links now open your own country's Amazon store, with a "cheapest" badge on the lowest-cost printer and paper.
• Printer details now travel with the feedback form, so the separate report button is gone.
1.0.6 Oct 2
New Supported Printer
- The Munbyn FM226 is now supported. Link in settings (two-finger swipe).
- Prints go to whichever supported printer is on and available to pair, and printers can be "soft"-shared among multiple phones after an 8-sec timeout.
Board
- Variable Pod Size from 2 to 8 players. 7+ seats need a tablet-sized device.
- A new game timer clock by the speak button. Toggle with "Toggle the Clock" command.
- Voice commands for player count ("two players" to "eight players"), "starting life {N}", "settings".
- Bugfix: Hold-and-tap commander damage counts every tap (and disallows other input while assigning damage).
- Lethal commander damage flashes red.
- A new commander damage widget to keep the screen streamlined.
- Better layout on iPad and on iPhones with a Dynamic Island.
- The auto-rotate setting is now an on/off toggle.
Minigames: when a player is out, they don't like to just sit and wait. Tap and pick a game from a list.
- Cauldygotchi: feed Cauldy the tokens you print, stir him with the ladle. Keep him happy for 15 minutes and you win.
- Cauldybird: a skill flight game through receipt-paper obstacles.
- Bubble Cauldle: a Bubble-pop game with mana bubbles, tap to aim, release to shoot.
- Cauld Lang Syne: adopt 20 animals in 3 minutes by finding each one the item it wants.
- Two-player games for neighbouring seats: CauldyBall and Cauldbat (a fighting game operated with the gesture glyphs).
Tokens and sharing
- ~20 New cards which use the "Conjure" mechanic are now printable.
- Added Caribou to the "missing" tokens library, courtesy of the Cauldron Art Crew.
- Added Unglued's "Rock, Paper, Scissors" cards. Use to decide who goes first.
- Favorited tokens can be shared as an IG story-sized video.
- Speech recognition for English in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Indonesia.
- The printed gesture guide is in larger typeface and lists more voice commands.
- Minor UI improvements to Token Index
Other
- Settings gained review, bug report/feature request buttons.
- The app uses less battery: frame rate is capped at 30 frames a second, so phones stay cooler, and batteries don't diminish rapidly.
- Edge case bug fix so a network failure no longer crashes the app.
1.0.5 Sep 30
THE TOKEN INDEX
Say "token index" or hold four fingers on the board to open it.
• Browse and search every printable token, by name or by artist, with filters for each kind of token.
• Swipe through each token's artwork and print the one you like.
• Tap an artwork to keep it out of random picks, or long-press to always print that one.
• SHUFFLE, RANDOM and SEQUENTIAL control how artwork is dealt when you ask by voice.
• A UB switch keeps Universes Beyond artwork out of random picks.
• Add your own artwork to any token from your camera or photo library, with or without the token's text printed under it.
• Favorites: drag the heart onto artwork you love, then print one, print them all, or share them as an Instagram story.
• See any card full screen, with the artist credited underneath.
• Tap (i) for a guide to everything.
DRAW YOUR OWN TOKENS
• Say "sketch" to draw "D00-DL, Caricaturist's" Sketch token in 15 seconds, with the art-to-keyword list beside you. It prints when time's up.
• Say "freestyle" to draw anything you like and print it.
• Say a token followed by "camera" ("1/1 dog camera") to photograph it and print it straight away. The photo is saved as a new token artwork in the token index.
NEW TOKEN ART
10 new tokens WOTC never printed are now available: Giant Bird, Zeppelin, Minor Demon, Expansion-Symbol, Wood, Pincher, Sand, Sketch, Spike and Festering Goblin.
Artwork by Cauldron users - the members of the Cauldron Art Crew.
PRINTING
• Tap the printed card for up to five more copies. They queue and print one after another.
• Double-faced tokens are now two separate tokens, each with its own picture.
• Role tokens, the cards Garth One-Eye creates, and cards that make token copies of themselves can all be printed.
• Planes, phenomena and dungeons are rebuilt for the paper, with their full rules text.
• Checklists, punch cards and bounty posters are no longer treated as tokens.
VOICE
• Recognition now listens in English on phones set to other languages, so card names are heard properly worldwide.
• Say "star star" for */* tokens.
• Say "print favorites" at the table to print all your favorited arts as a batch print.
THE BOARD
• When a player dies to poison or commander damage, their status reflects that.
FIXES
• Printer trouble reports now actually work, and show you exactly what will be sent.
• Many layout, alignment and notch/Dynamic Island fixes.
1.0.4 Sep 25
Momir Vig payphone mode.
say "calling Mr. Vig" and the board physically turns over into a faux-1990s US payphone. Dial a mana value, * sends, # clears, *69 hangs up. Real DTMF tones and haptics, ringback, a pickup click, and he speaks on the way in and out. Unreachable numbers get a proper SIT tone and "your call cannot be completed as dialed".
Designation labels.
hold the mic and name a creature designation/status to print a small, 20mm label for it. Twenty options: Goaded, Phased Out, Suspected, Monstrous, Renowned, Adapted, Summoning Sick, Exerted, Stun, Shield, Finality, Indestructible, Prepared, plus the 'granted' keywords (Trample, Flying, Deathtouch, First Strike, Double Strike, Vigilance, Hexproof). Each prints the rules reminder text underneath in italic, the way a card does. "Goaded {color}" names the player seat that goaded it... you'll have to attack someone else, bud.
Missing token art.
Introducing: missing token art! An exclusive token series brought to you by the Cauldron community. Tokens WOTC never printed can now be printed from artwork drawn for the app, by users of the app. First is the "Banana" (generated from Kibo), with the artist (@paypaybrowns) credited on the paper and a Cauldron set symbol. Say "banana".
Voice fixes.
"role" no longer collides with "roll"; "centar" is heard as Centaur; and "pro black" / "protection from black" no longer makes the app search for a black token.
Buying the gear.
outside the US, the printer link now goes to Phomemo's own shop, which ships worldwide, instead of a US Amazon listing whose shipping could exceed the printer. Paper suggestion is now a recyclable, BPA/BPS-free roll (pack of 10).
Printer compatibility.
the app adapts to printers that refuse fast writes or answer on an unfamiliar Bluetooth service, which should fix some "connects but won't print" cases. Settings has a new Printer report button that emails a diagnostic to the developer. Have an issue during printing? one tap in settings sends off the necessary data points for the developer to investigate.
1.0.3 Sep 20
Planechase support - 3 new voice commands:
"roll the planar die" a tumbling cube to decide your fate on the plane
"plane {{name of plane}}" prints any of 206 planes and phenomena.
"plane random" / "planeswalk" deals from a real planar deck built to rule 901.15a: sized to the table (20 cards for a duel, 40 for a pod), capped phenomena, no duplicate names, never opens on a phenomenon, and cycles rather than re-rolling. A new game randomizes and reshuffles it.
Planes print as art crop + typeset rules rather than a photo of the card, because a whole plane scaled to 48mm is impossible to read.
Board orientation latch
A three-state button in settings: Auto / 4 seats landscape / 2 seats portrait.
Latching stops the phone asking to change format when it's picked up and passed around.
Floating mana - new voice command
"floating mana" prints a WUBRG slip, sized for a small d6 to sit on.
Voice recognition fixes
4 separate, specific reported failures: boar heard as "bore", decayed as "decade", mechtitan (said correctly) as "meck titan", momir as "momere"
General Fixes
- Designation badges no longer clip the counter pills on a full seat
- Role tokens reachable by half-name — "virtuous" finds Monster // Virtuous
- The app overrides any screen-sleep setting
- The rotate gesture is taught in the tutorial
1.0.2 Sep 17
Cauldron now fills an iPad instead of running in a phone-sized window.
Turn the iPad any way you like and the board follows, and the dial, badges and counters scale with the screen.
Split View is supported.
Printing a token needed a large download before anything reached the printer, so on one bar it often produced nothing at all. It now fetches a tenth as much, stops waiting when a connection has clearly died instead of hanging, and says the connection is the problem rather than blaming the print. If you want to print with no signal at all, Cauldron will now offer to keep every token's artwork on your phone.
Settings now features a printable reference card.
Keep it as you learn the glyphs and the gestures.
Fixes
- The gesture guide can now be completed in a two-player game.
- A player's monarch counter, etc. is no longer hidden behind the Dynamic Island.
- Three fingers reset the game whichever way you swipe.
- Faster launch, and a smoother board during long games.
Names the game invented - Icingdeath, Marit Lage, Tarmogoyf, and every planeswalker emblem - are matched with far better accuracy now.
