Hold your phone up to your cat and find out what that meow "really" meant. Five cat personalities, over a thousand daft translations, and it all works with no internet.
What is your cat actually saying? Meowdy has absolutely no idea. But it will guess, confidently, and usually rudely.
Hold your phone up to your cat and tap the big button. Meowdy listens to the meow, works out the mood, and puts words in your cat's mouth — then says them out loud in a cat voice.
It is a toy, not a science project. Your cat is not really asking about the bins. But it will absolutely sound like they are.
HOW IT WORKS
Tap and listen. Meowdy measures the pitch, length, loudness and rhythm of the meow and sorts it into one of seven moods: Demanding, Hungry, Affectionate, Curious, Annoyed, Dramatic or Sleepy. Then it picks something for your cat to say to match.
The same meow always gets the same answer. Make a different noise, get a different one. Children test this immediately, so we built for it.
And if you try to fool it with your own voice, it will notice. Cats sit far higher in pitch than people do, and Meowdy knows the difference.
PICK YOUR CAT'S PERSONALITY
The same meow means very different things depending on who your cat is.
Sassy — superior, deadpan, secretly fond of you
Sweet — earnest, cuddly, tells you everything
Dramatic — every day is an opera
Grumpy — few words, all of them complaints
Goofy — enthusiastic, distracted, enthusiastic again
TALK BACK
Say something to your cat, or type it. Meowdy answers with a real meow, and shows you how much of your sentence actually landed:
"blah blah DINNER blah blah"
Mention food and your cat perks up. Mention the vet and it leaves the room. Say its name and it wants to know what you want. Say something about your work deadline and it hears nothing at all, which is realistic.
KEEP WHAT THEY SAID
Every translation is saved to a diary you can scroll back through and read out loud. Star the good ones. And every so often your cat comes out with something rare — there are two dozen of those to collect.
BUILT FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY
Big buttons, no reading required — every translation is spoken aloud, so it works for children who cannot read yet. No accounts, no sign-ups, no ads, no in-app purchases, nothing to buy, ever.
YOUR PRIVACY, PROPERLY
Meowdy has no internet connection at all. Not a limited one — none.
Everything happens on your device: the listening, the analysis, and the speech recognition when you talk to your cat. No audio is recorded, saved or uploaded. Nothing is collected about you or your child. There is no analytics SDK and no advertising SDK, because there is no network code in the app to carry them.
We think that should be normal for a children's app. It is not, so we are mentioning it.
Meowdy is for fun. It is not a real translator, it will not tell you if your cat is unwell, and it is not a substitute for a vet. If you are worried about your cat, please speak to someone with an actual veterinary degree.
