You're an alien field researcher sent to learn French before the invasion. The mothership calls out orders in real spoken French, like "Apporte la vache," and you fly your UFO over a storybook French countryside, listen for the word, and beam up exactly the right specimen. Get it wrong and the farmers come running.
Cowsmic is language learning built as a real arcade game first. No flashcards, no matching quizzes, no drilling with a stylus. You fly, you listen, you beam. French is what you're aiming with.
Feeling brave? Hold the radio and speak the French word back to the mothership. Get it right and you earn a bonus. Get it wrong, or say nothing at all, and the round plays out exactly the same, because speaking is a bonus layer, never a requirement.
As you get further in you'll hit the jam decoder: the mothership's voice cuts out mid-order and you have to rearrange the scrambled fragments back into a real French sentence before you can fly. It's the moment word recognition turns into real reading.
Your first mission in Le Pâturage is free, no trial required. A subscription (three days free, then weekly) or a one-time lifetime purchase unlocks everything else: the rest of the pasture, the market, the café, the town and the beach. 40 missions across 5 French places in all, and every place is its own little world with its own vocabulary.
