The world is dark and the journey is long. Wayside offers a place of rest along your path. Wayside is a grimdark journaling app inspired by old DOS terminals and retro adventure games. It leads you on a daily journey through a bleak but beautiful landscape, with diverse characters and settings along the way. A grimdark journey as you journal: Each day brings a new setting with new art, animations and effects. After traveling for a while, you will discover new biomes with new characters to meet. Biomes include: - The Windswept Plains - The Tenebrous Forest - The Abandoned City A range of characters to meet along the way - The scribe keeps a record of your thoughts so you can return to them. - The dreamer holds things you want to remember. A quote, a task, an idea or anything else. - The explorer offers new adventures beyond those included in the base version. Wayside is privacy first: - What you write is saved only on your device, in the app's private storage, and is never transmitted anywhere. - Your data is always easily exportable into a portable .md format. Your data is always just yours and is never stuck inside the app. - You can delete everything from the menu inside the app, or by uninstalling it.
