Cleaner text from scanned PDFs. PDFTrail now keeps far more of the words on a scanned page and drops repeated ones. Tables on clean scans keep their rows, columns and the text in every cell. Tables that run over several pages become one table. When a table continues on the next page, PDFTrail joins the pieces into one table in Excel, Word and Markdown. A row cut by the page break becomes one row again. Review every table, and fix it in seconds. After a conversion, the new Table Review shows each table found. If a table is wrong, drag its grid lines into place in the grid editor, then accept it. You can also open the file as it is, without changes. Two new looks. Choose Terminal or Field Unit beside the Blueprint theme. Scans with a poor hidden text layer. Some scanners add their own hidden text to a PDF, and it is often wrong. PDFTrail now checks that text and reads the page again when its own reading is better. Watermarked downloads are read. Some downloaded circulars stack two copies of each page with a watermark on top. PDFTrail now reads these pages instead of skipping them. Lone digits on macOS 27. On macOS 27, Apple's text recognizer can skip a single digit, such as a quantity of "3" in a table cell. PDFTrail now finds these digits again and marks them as recovered. Older fax PDFs open. PDFTrail now reads fax-compressed PDF pages. A clearer free version. REAL EXCEL TABLES FROM SCANNED PAGES When you export a scanned PDF to Excel, PDFTrail now builds the spreadsheet from the same table structure it shows you on screen, with columns lined up the way they appear on the page. Numbers that used to run together in one cell now land in separate columns. FEWER EMPTY CELLS IN SCANNED TABLES PDFTrail now fills in a table cell that the page recognizer left blank, using the text it already found in that same spot. Row and column structure never changes — this only adds text PDFTrail already read. PDFTRAIL NOW READS IMAGES INSIDE TEXT PDFS Some PDFs mix real text with an embedded image — a chart, a scanned exhibit, or an infographic. PDFTrail now recognizes text and tables inside these embedded images too, instead of skipping them. COMBINED WORD EXPORTS ARE FIXED Exporting several PDFs into one combined Word document could produce a broken file. PDFTrail now escapes text correctly every time, so combined Word exports always open cleanly. TEN FREE EXPORTS INSTEAD OF FOUR Every free export counter — Markdown, Word, and full-size Excel — now starts at 10 instead of 4. Plain text and JSON export stay free and unlimited, and your existing counts are not reduced. BATCH CONVERSION IS EASIER TO FOLLOW When you convert several PDFs at once, each file now animates into place as it finishes, so you can see your batch progress at a glance. A REFRESHED APP ICON PDFTrail has a new, sharper icon across the whole app. UNDER THE HOOD Several accuracy fixes to how PDFTrail reads table headers and row structure on scanned pages, so more tables come out correctly shaped without any change to born-digital PDFs.
