Turn a folder full of PDFs, photos and documents into files you can recognize at a glance. NameSense is a batch file renamer for Mac that combines reusable naming rules, clear previews and optional AI assistance. YOUR NAMING SYSTEM, BUILT YOUR WAY Combine the original filename, custom text, sequence numbers, dates and the parent folder. Add file metadata such as size, image dimensions, date taken, PDF title, author or page count when available. Arrange the filename parts and choose a separator to match your workflow. Start with a built-in template or save your own rules for future batches. PREVIEW BEFORE YOU RENAME Import supported files, choose a rule and generate proposed names. Compare each result with the original filename, review the changes and rename when you are ready. NameSense checks for invalid names, duplicate destinations, occupied paths and changed source files. Resolve duplicate names with numbered groups, reorder files in the review, and exchange names within the same batch without overwriting other files. Rename history lets you undo supported operations when the original paths are still available. REVIEW PHOTO ORIENTATION With a model that supports image input, review optional photo orientation suggestions, adjust rotation manually and confirm before applying. Rotation changes can be undone separately. Suggestions may be incorrect; always check the preview. OPTIONAL AI, USING YOUR OWN PROVIDER Create filename parts from file content, including titles, summaries, keywords, authors, publication dates, categories and custom instructions. Combine these with local parts such as a date or sequence number. Choose your provider and model in Settings. Cloud integrations include OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, SiliconFlow, OpenRouter, MiniMax, DeepSeek, Qwen, Google Gemini and Doubao. You can also configure compatible endpoints or connect to your own Ollama or LM Studio service. Cloud providers require your own credentials; local services must be installed and running separately. Test connections before saving and adjust the global limit on simultaneous AI requests. Local connection tests check service availability, text output and basic image recognition. Model capabilities vary. Before selected content is sent to the configured AI service, NameSense explains the sharing and requests your consent. Review AI output before renaming. LOCAL RULES WORK WITHOUT AI Rules based on local filename parts run on your Mac without an AI service or API key. The app uses the macOS App Sandbox and works with files and folders you authorize. No NameSense account is required. USAGE AND IN-APP PURCHASE Use local rules and built-in AI fields with up to 10 files per batch. NameSense Pro is an optional non-consumable, one-time purchase that unlocks larger batches and generation with custom AI instructions, including custom content requirements on built-in AI fields. You can edit and save custom rules before upgrading; generating names with custom AI requires Pro, even for one file. Previous App Store purchases can be restored in Settings. Cloud AI providers may charge usage fees; Pro does not include AI credits or models. Ollama and LM Studio do not require a cloud API key for local use. Provider availability, model capabilities and supported file content may vary. Make everyday file organization easier, from project documents and meeting notes to photo collections and PDF archives.

Reordering updates the numbering. • Exchange names within a batch while protecting other files, with improved recovery and undo. • Review long lists in a fixed-height panel, preview files, and scroll automatically when dragging near an edge. • Review optional photo orientation suggestions, adjust rotation manually, apply changes and undo them separately, with improved HEIC compatibility. • Use simpler AI service and model settings with more cloud providers, compatible endpoints, and local Ollama or LM Studio services. Set a global limit on simultaneous AI requests. • Test local services, text output and image recognition in separate steps, with clearer progress, cancellation and error guidance, plus more time for models to load. • Enjoy clearer AI content, PDF page-range and cache settings, better save feedback, and improved recovery after reauthorizing folders.
