Recepta: Recipes & Shopping
Cook what you already have
Free · In‑App Purchases
Paste a link and Recepta turns it into a proper recipe. Adjust servings, shop, plan the week: it all follows you across iPhone, iPad and Mac.
It's seven in the evening. The fridge is full of things that have nothing to do with one another, and you don't know what to make of them. Recepta answers that question, and a few others.
TONIGHT, YOU COULD MAKE
Tick off your shopping list in the shop: every item you tick goes into your pantry, with no inventory to keep. Fresh food leaves on its own: fish after two days, meat and bread after three, vegetables after a week.
Recepta then ranks your recipes by distance: what you can cook right now, then what is one purchase away, then two. Where other apps hand you an empty list because you're missing a clove of garlic, Recepta tells you which one. And search can leave out the recipes that need an appliance you don't have.
FROM A LINK OR A BOOK TO A RECIPE
Share a page from Safari, Instagram or TikTok: Recepta pulls out the title, the ingredients and the steps, and keeps the original address. Photograph the pages of a book or a recipe card, up to four, or choose their images on a Mac: the text is read on the device, and the pages are not kept. Then add a photo of the dish. Everything stays editable, line by line.
A recipe written in another language translates at the touch of a button, entirely on the device. The original stays one tap away.
WHILE YOU COOK
Cooking mode shows one step at a time, large, and the screen stays awake. Say “next” or “repeat” when your hands are in the flour.
A stew is a twenty-minute rest inside a forty-five-minute simmer. Recepta holds all your timers together, in the order they will ring, each with its name: on the iPhone Lock Screen, and in the cooking window on the Mac.
EVERY COOK, REMEMBERED
At the end, “How Was It?”: a rating, and what you changed. The recipe keeps its history (cooked four times, last in October) and brings forward the best version, with what made it better.
THE WEEK AND THE SHOPPING
Put recipes on the days of the week. The shopping list follows, adds up the quantities that can be added up, and sorts them by aisle. Servings rescale, and units convert or simply follow your region.
IN SEASON
In Europe, Recepta knows which recipes are in season this month, based on a public fruit and vegetable calendar: a collection, a filter in search, a widget.
WHAT IT CONTAINS, WHAT IT SUITS
Every recipe states its allergens and the diets it suits (vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, lactose-free, pork-free), worked out from its ingredients. “Contains gluten” is written as soon as one ingredient carries it; “Gluten-free” only when every line is recognised. Otherwise, Recepta says it doesn't know.
SEVENTY RECIPES TO BEGIN WITH
French, Italian, Spanish, German, English, Japanese, Chinese: each in its own language, with its timers and its resting times. Edit them, or remove them all with one tap.
YOUR RECIPES, KEPT SAFE
A backup every day, and one before anything that erases, in Recepta or in a folder of your choice. Restoring shows what it is about to do, and can be undone. Send a recipe to someone close: it opens in their Recepta, with nothing personal in it.
ON ALL YOUR DEVICES
iPhone, iPad and Mac, with a proper three-column window and keyboard shortcuts on the Mac. Widgets, including “On the menu” on the iPhone Lock Screen; Siri and Shortcuts (“I cooked…”); printing for a recipe or the shopping list. iCloud sync stays off until you turn it on.
YOUR PRIVACY
No account, no tracker, no advertising, no usage analytics. Your recipes stay on your devices, and in your iCloud if you turn it on, which we cannot read.
Ratings & Reviews

Recepta 2.0.1 makes the recipe page clearer and quantities more accurate, everywhere.
• The number of servings has its own line on the recipe page, with its number, and “Reset” as soon as you move away from the recipe's own. The “+” can no longer be mistaken for adding an ingredient: “Add an ingredient” has its own button below the list, and “Edit” sits in the recipe's toolbar.
• Quantities rounded the way you measure: 1.85 kg rather than 1,833.33 g, spoons in fractions (1 ¾ tsp). The recipe, cooking mode, shopping list, editor, printouts and sharing all write each quantity the same way, in the measurement system you chose.
• Nothing you type is lost: an ingredient or step typed without tapping “+” is added when you save, and a quantity is read with a comma, a full stop or a fraction. If saving fails, Recepta tells you instead of pretending it worked.
• Shopping and Week: an item can finally be removed, and on iPhone tapping anywhere on its row ticks it off. A recipe in your week opens with a tap and comes off through its “⋯” menu.
• More reliable iCloud: categories duplicated between two devices are merged, an included recipe you edited on one device is no longer replaced by a fresh copy from another, and iCloud diagnostics show the error in detail.
• And also: a link pasted without “https://” now imports; deletions that can't be undone name what they erase; on iPad, deleting a recipe from its page is reliable, and the sidebar stays within reach from Shopping and Week; printed quantities line up with their ingredient, in your measurement system; included recipes whose photo showed a different dish now appear without a photo.
