**The Fool Who Was a War God** is an offline, single-player story RPG that combines classic RPG exploration, party progression, battles, puzzles, and a multi-chapter visual-novel adventure.
## EXPLORE & PREPARE
Begin your journey in a connected hub featuring city streets, Ye Fan's home, markets, parks, and portals leading to special trials.
Explore freely, talk to characters, gather resources, strengthen your party, and prepare before entering the main story.
Optional combat and preparation activities allow you to develop your characters before the story begins. Nothing is required just to start the campaign.
Visit residents along the way who share combat tips — elemental matchups, defense mechanics, and strategies for upcoming trials.
## BUILD YOUR PARTY
Meet companions throughout your journey and build a party of up to six characters, with four able to fight at the same time.
Develop your team through battles, equipment, class mastery, and progression. Choose your party wisely as you prepare for increasingly difficult encounters.
Characters can advance through multiple class tiers — from basic roles to powerful specializations earned through trials and tower progression.
## TEN SPECIAL TRIALS
Challenge ten optional trials filled with riddles, hidden rewards, and powerful exit guardians.
Solve riddle chests, defeat guardians, and earn **Storied Seals** and tokens. The choices you make during preparation can have consequences later in the story.
Each trial's riddle chest grants a full elemental Seal gear set (weapon, helm, mail, and guard) tuned against that trial's exit guardian weakness, plus themed accessories.
## HEAVEN SEAL TOWER
Climb the **Heaven Seal Tower**, featuring 100 unique floors.
The higher you climb, the greater the challenge — and the greater the rewards. Rare weapons, equipment, and opportunities for mastery await those willing to push their limits.
Every five floors unlocks class advancement opportunities for party members present. Ultimate-tier equipment awaits on milestone floors.
## COMBAT
Turn-based battles with elemental strengths and weaknesses, physical and magical defense layers.
Use Auto Battle for convenient grinding, or manually command your party for tougher encounters. Equip elemental gear to exploit guardian weaknesses — or brute-force your way through with raw power.
## A STORY SHAPED BY YOUR JOURNEY
Experience a **Prologue and Chapters I–VIII**, featuring dialogue, character interactions, choices, and optional mid-chapter battles.
Certain decisive battles only appear if you earned the corresponding Storied Seal during your preparation.
Miss a seal? The story continues. You will still experience the complete chapter, but the associated climax battle will be skipped.
Your preparation, victories, and progression can shape the strength you bring into the story and determine which confrontations await.
