Always On Location records this phone's position all day, including while the app is closed, and writes one plain CSV and one GPX file for each day. Point any geotagger at the GPX and photographs from a camera with no GPS of its own land on the map.
WHAT IT WRITES
• One CSV per day: time in UTC and local, latitude, longitude, altitude, the accuracy of each, speed, course, time zone, and which iOS mechanism produced the fix.
• One GPX per day, split into segments at gaps, so a geotagger never interpolates a photograph across a hole in the record.
• Both appear in Files ▸ On My iPhone ▸ Always On Location, and in Finder over USB.
WHERE THE FILES GO
Nowhere, unless you move them. There is no server, no account, no analytics and no third-party SDK. The app contains no networking code for your data. Files leave this phone only when you export them, or through an iCloud backup you control.
HOW IT KEEPS RECORDING
• Recording starts by itself at launch. A logger you have to remember to start is a logger you forgot to start.
• If iOS ends the app, it is relaunched in the background and picks the day back up.
• A missed midnight is repaired at the next launch, so a day is never left half-written.
• Three fidelity profiles trade battery against detail, and GPS parks itself when the phone stops moving.
WHAT THE MAPS SHOW
An accuracy limit, an optional speed limit, and the reach of the year map's shading are all yours to set. None of it edits the log: every fix stays in the CSV, and raising a limit brings it straight back.
HOW TO STOP IT
Pause recording whenever you like, delete any single day, or erase the whole archive. An afternoon somewhere is yours not to record.
