Bug fixes to newly released feature Sportfax Daily

Fixes SPORTFAX DAILY offering you a puzzle you had already finished. Your result is now kept properly on the device, and if the app ever loses track of it, it asks the server instead of starting you again. Also: a tidier scoreboard, and the archive reads correctly before the first puzzle of the day.

P723 holds every past one to play at your own pace, P724 the scoreboard. WHAT'S ON TV — P395 UK sport by day, grouped by competition rather than thrown in a list, eight days ahead. ON THIS DAY Now prints in Bedstead, the face Ceefax was actually drawn with, instead of quietly falling back to the site's ordinary type. Formula 1 has joined it — spin back to Silverstone in 1950 — and the cricket summary takes the live scorecard's shape. SHORT NAMES, PROPERLY Clubs across football, cricket, rugby, the NFL and the IPL now have short forms chosen rather than guessed. Both Manchester clubs no longer print MAN in the same women's fixture, and New York City against New England is no longer NEW v NEW. ALSO Darts hold one speed through the bounce, and the board stops shifting under your finger. The men's and women's tabs sit where they belong on the cricket pages. Rugby refuses a stale table instead of printing it with a footnote, and stops calling November's fixtures the last seven match days. The home page and the puzzle screens lay out for the phone they are on, rather than the one they were designed on. No adverts, no cookies, no account. Still just the scores.

THE NFL VIDIPRINTER — P419 Every score, touchdown, field goal and turnover as it lands, in the order it landed. The same rolling feed the football and cricket pages have had, now for the NFL, and reachable straight from the hub on P410. FORMULA 1 JOINS ON THIS DAY Spin the reel back to Silverstone in May 1950 and forward through seventy-five seasons. Every race lists the whole field rather than the podium, in the same rows the live F1 pages use — DNF in red where a car retired. ON THIS DAY, PROPERLY Two things. The page now renders in the Ceefax face it was always meant to have; in the app it had quietly fallen back to the site's ordinary typeface. And it no longer loses the last result off the bottom of the screen — a page whose headlines all ran to two lines had thirteen pixels less room than anything was counting on. ALSO SUPERSTARS on P711 keeps a leaderboard that runs to more than one page, and its difficulty now follows the rung rather than the game. Live NFL quarters render green on P411, which they never once did. International football has its own section, with the Nations League groups in the order a reader expects. The section rows at the top of each index have been reworked, and the desktop layout tidied. No adverts, no cookies, no account. Still just the scores.

NOTIFICATIONS ARE HERE Star a team and SportFax can tell you when they score, when a wicket falls, when the match kicks off. Football and cricket to begin with. They are off until you turn them on, one sport at a time, and turning them off stops them immediately. A FASTEXT BAR YOU CHOOSE The four coloured buttons have been the same for everyone since day one. Now three of them are yours: pick any of football, cricket, rugby, F1, snooker, NFL, racing or games for green, yellow and blue. Red stays HOME, because that is how you get back from anywhere. Wander into a sport you have not pinned and it still takes the fourth button, exactly as before. WHAT'S NEW — P398 Every release, listed by version. The page you would have wanted before reading this one. WOMEN'S FOOTBALL The WSL and the Women's FA Cup, alongside the men's competitions under England. ALSO Settings and favourites rebuilt — one line per setting, favourites grouped by sport, and larger type throughout. Notifications now appear even with the app open. Club short names fixed for MLS, the A-League and the Canadian Premier League. No adverts, no cookies, no account. Still just the scores.

Minor bug fixes

Minor bug fixes and improvements across football form tables, golf game, cricket game, NFL and College live matches and rugby column widths.

NEW GAMES on page 700 • UP AND DOWN — six-hole pitch-and-putt (707) • SUPERSTARS — play all 5 games, 3 lives, targets to hit (711) FOOTBALL • Top scorers (321) and a form guide on the league tables FASTER, AND STEADIER • Pages no longer hang on a poor connection — they fall back to the last scores • Fixed the layout on phones set to a large system font size Plus a round of smaller fixes across the app.

NEW: US College Football — pages 430-438. Faster loading — pages that could hang on LOADING now come up quickly. A cleaner look — the vidiprinter is lighter now too, finishing the type pass. Also: • Rugby and NFL live scores refresh properly, and half-time no longer reads as live. • Vidiprinter tidied — a clearer goal line, and no double GOAL. • Game polish — smoother darts timing, a taller conversion pitch, and a full-width SHOOT button. • Fixed the layout looking oversized on phones set to a large system font size. • More fixes across cricket, snooker and F1.

Lots new since your last update. RUGBY IS HERE Premiership, URC, the Top 14 and the Champions Cup, plus the Six Nations and the autumn internationals — live scores, team pages, tables and fixtures. NFL IS HERE Live scores, standings, fixtures and a page for every team. FOLLOW YOUR TEAMS Star your rugby and NFL sides too — football and cricket were already there — and manage the lot on FAVOURITES (P901). MORE GAMES Two new ones on page 700 — CONVERSION (rugby kicking) and SIXES (cricket). And put your name on the leaderboards with a GAME NAME in SETTINGS. A CLEANER LOOK A readability pass on the type: rows and labels are lighter now, so bold is saved for what's live — the score, the innings under way, the result. Plus fixes across cricket, rugby and the settings screen.

A round of fixes and a few additions: • Match pages now always show the fastext bar and the Starting XI / Subs toggle — they could get cut off at the bottom before. • On This Day no longer flashes a false "offline" message. • Cricket teams now covers the Test nations and the IPL franchises, with a competition filter. • Formula 1 results are clearer — session labels and a points column. • Snooker results are now split by round. • Starting XI names the four missing players once you're done.
