Fast Movie Editor (FME) is a high performance video editor that is designed to take full advantage of your workstation for editing videos. It is fully offline, with no subscriptions, logins, DRMs or telemetry.
Designed from the ground up utilizing Metal, it intelligently pre-processes your videos and manages memory so the content you want is resident in RAM, VRAM or in a format friendly to the GPU on disk. It comes bundled with its own video encoder queue software, allowing you to quickly target sequences to multiple formats for encoding.
FME comes with Fast Sound Editor (FSE) and Fast Capture Studio (FCS) built in, offering professional sound editing and parallel capturing as native features in your video editor.
PRECISE TIMELINE EDITING
Build multitrack video, audio, title, and caption edits with multiple sequences in each project. Nest sequences to assemble complex sections independently and reuse them in a larger production. Source In and Out points, three-point editing, Insert and Overwrite operations, ripple and roll trims, slip and slide edits, razor, freeze frames, reverse playback, and speed changes support established workflows. The labeled History panel records every edit and lets you return directly to an earlier state.
COLOR, LOOKS, TITLES, AND MOTION
The Color workspace places color wheels and scopes beside the active frame. Histogram, waveform, and vectorscope views provide objective references for exposure, balance, contrast, saturation, and skin tone. Preview Looks on your own frame, then refine the result with precise color controls.
Titles are clips on dedicated tracks, so timing and overlap stay visible. Create and edit text in the Output Viewer with live preview, then control typography, alignment, stroke, shadow, background, and safe placement. Animate by character, word, or line with timing, easing, direction, and stagger.
Position, scale, rotation, anchor, opacity, crop, and effect parameters can be keyframed. On-canvas controls handle transforms, cropping, snapping, and motion paths. Value and Velocity graph editors control timing and interpolation. Preview and export use the same compositor, so the approved frame and delivered result follow the same rendering path.
MEDIA, AUDIO, AND NARRATION
Import video, audio, still images, and image sequences without reorganizing your source library. Project folders, search, thumbnail scrubbing, optimized media, and relinking tools keep large collections manageable while original media stays unchanged.
Detailed waveforms, smooth scrub audio, shuttle playback, clip volume and pan, fades, filters, compression, timeline mixing, meters, and beat markers support soundtrack work. The Narrate workspace records a microphone and optional camera while the sequence plays. A teleprompter, count-in, input monitoring, linked takes, and one-step Undo keep recording inside the edit.
FAST SOUND EDITOR (FSE)
Fast Sound Editor opens as a standalone application and as an audio-editing surface inside FME. It provides sample-accurate cuts, individual-channel editing, zero-crossing adjustment, fades, Mix Paste with controlled gain and crossfade, and Cut Preview auditioning without the selected region. Each edit is labeled, and Undo restores the selection, viewport, playhead, focus, and audio data.
CAPTURE STUDIO
Capture Studio records screens, windows, cameras, capture cards, microphones, system audio, application audio, and supported network streams in one synchronized session. Each source is saved to its own isolated file, without capture-time compositing, gain changes, color transforms, or frame-rate conforming. Tutorials, podcasts, multicamera productions, and live sessions retain clean original recordings for independent editing after capture.
