IT LISTENS FOR THE SOUND, NOT JUST THE WORD Most apps that "listen" are running ordinary word recognition, which will happily accept "thock" for "sock". It is built to find real words in messy audio, which is exactly the wrong instinct for articulation practice. SpeechTeach also runs a phoneme model, right on your device, that looks for the target sound in the right place in the word. Your child hears encouragement either way. You get the honest picture.
