Explore Lake George with narrated history at every stop — hike the trails, ride the bikeway, cruise past landmarks, and learn the stories behind them.
Whether you're on a mountain trail, pedaling the bikeway, or out on the water, this audioguide brings the Queen of American Lakes to life with short stories tied to locations all around the lake.
EXPLORE BY LAND OR WATER - Choose your mode — hiking, biking, or boating — and see the stops that matter to you on a live map with your location.
REAL HISTORY AT EVERY STOP - One-minute stories of the French and Indian War at Fort William Henry and Battlefield Park, the Knox Cannon Trail, Gilded Age estates, Georgia O'Keeffe's summers at the lake, the steamboat era, and many more.
HIKE AND RIDE WITH CONTEXT - Trail maps and trailheads for Prospect, Buck, Tongue Mountain, and Shelving Rock, plus bike routes — each with an audio stop explaining what you're seeing.
THE SCIENCE OF THE LAKE - Glacial origins, why the water is so clear, native fish and wildlife, invasive species research, and underwater archaeology — including the lake's historic shipwrecks with credited photos and sources.
KNOW YOUR LAKE Water depth shading based on DEC survey data, driving directions to stops, and a local farm-stand layer with seasonal hours for markets and u-pick farms.
Every story is researched from historical sources and credited where due. Depth information is for interest only — not for navigation.
(And when you're in the mood, an optional ghost-stories tour of the lake's legends and tall tales is one tap away.)
