・Fixed a bug where your record could disappear after the battery died while recording and the phone restarted. Every save now keeps the previous one alongside it and is written all the way to storage, so a sudden shutdown loses at most the last hundred metres or so. ・Saving no longer stops when the record file can't be read. The unreadable file is kept, the walks that can still be read come back automatically, and a walk that was cut off is kept up to its last saved point. ・If a save fails, PlainWalk tells you right away. ・Fixed the cat in a walk's details not facing the direction of travel while playing back a long walk.

・Your photos, as cards: open a spot and it comes as a card that tilts under your finger. Swipe sideways for the next one, and tap a card to turn it over and see where on the walk you took it. ・Fix a trail the GPS got wrong: open a walk in Records and tap the scissors. On the real map, pick the stretch that went astray, add a point and drag it onto the corner you walked. You can also cut a line the GPS guessed, or drop a wobbly start or end. ・Eight more colours for your map (Plus): soft ones like Peach and Teal, and bold ones like Mustard and Denim. Pick one in Layers. ・Photo pins in colour (Plus): Flat, Marker and 3D pins colour your spots by category. ・Apple Watch, redrawn: start, pause and finish from your wrist, and see new roads add up as you walk. The walk you just finished stays on screen for a moment, and on watchOS 11 your walk shows up in the Smart Stack too. ・A current-location button on the real map, and a fix for area badges whose outline and name could disagree.

・Your profile, redrawn: your rank, total pioneered, your own map and everything you have collected (spots, badges, shared maps) on one sheet. Settings moved behind the gear at the top right. ・Records, month by month: this week at a glance, the days you walked as dots, and every walk named after where it started. ・A membership card for Plus: with Plus, your profile card turns black and gold, with your rank on it. ・A feel for every tap: buttons and tabs answer with a light tap, and holding to end a walk beats like a heart until it finishes. ・Pioneered distance, counted more precisely: new roads are measured along every step, so totals may shift slightly.

・PlainWalk notices when you head out: under Profile > When you start moving, get a notification after a few minutes of moving and tap it to record, even when the app is closed. With Plus, the walk records itself. ・Shared maps, rebuilt: invite people with a link that opens straight from LINE, Messages or mail, and put your name next to your walks. ・Bring in walks from Strava and others: import GPX or TCX files under Profile > Import. Each track becomes a walk, and roads you had not walked yet count as pioneered.

・Shared blank maps: make a map with family or friends. Everyone's roads land on one sheet, and the roads more of you walk grow thicker. Only the walks you choose to send leave your device, and you can take them back anytime ・Add photos after a walk: forgot to add a photo during the walk? Open the walk in Records and add it. It lands where you took it ・See how much of each area you have walked: badges are painted with the ground you have covered, and your first walk in a new area is celebrated when it ends ・What's new, inside the app: after an update, one sheet shows what changed. ・Destination flags: choose a place on the real map, and your blank map shows only the direction and the distance left. No route — how you get there is yours to decide ・Pick a place from the map: tap a shop shown on the real map to make it your destination. When you have not decided where to go, you can look around the map instead of searching ・Search for a place: results are sorted by how close they are to what you are looking at, and appear as pins on the map too ・Place details: opening hours, phone and website, from Apple's own place card ・Someday places: keep the places you want to visit one day on your blank map. Spot one while walking and tap it to head there ・Flags last for one walk. They all come down when it ends, so the next walk starts from a clean sheet

・Pioneer ranks: your rank rises with the distance you pioneer. A marathon, the edge of space, around the world, and on to the Moon — every step is a real distance ・Walking stats: tap the card on your profile for a day-by-day grid, weekly and weekday charts, and your personal bests ・Map colours (PlainWalk Plus): Mint, Blossom, Lavender, Sky, Sepia and Forest. They are used for share cards and timelapse videos too ・Trail and photo pin styles are now yours to choose (PlainWalk Plus) ・The map zooms out much further. Trails stay as smooth lines all the way ・A new option dims other trails while you record, for drawing with your walk ・Each walk now records its own step count ・Trails on the real map are drawn as smoothly as on your blank map

・Area badges: every town and ward you have walked becomes a badge in its own shape (Japan and Korea). Tap one to see your roads inside its outline ・A stronger share card: pick a white, transparent or photo background. Transparent lets you lay it over your own photo, and you can send it straight to Instagram Stories.
