A clip almost never arrives clean: an ad, a laugh, a line you'd never say. Press and hold it and it folds away. The text closes up and the drill walks straight past the audio, so you only ever repeat what's worth repeating. Nothing is deleted, and unfolding puts it back. Saved phrases now live in collections. One collection can hold phrases from any clip and from anything you've made here, and a phrase can sit in several at once. A phrase turns green when you've said it right on three different days. Drilling moves it along, the quiz moves it faster, because recalling something beats hearing it again. Tap the information mark beside Saved phrases and the whole rule is there, in two sentences. Choose the accent, and whether a man or a woman reads it, after you've read the script rather than before. Happy shadowing!

ASK SHADOW — your English coach, right inside the app The thing you need, when you're writing a message and not sure how an English speaker would actually say it. Now you can just ask. • Say it in your own language. Get back what a native would really say — not one dictionary word, but the two or three ways it's actually said, each with what it brings with it: how formal it is, who says it, what it quietly implies. • Paste something you wrote. See it rewritten the way people speak, plus a looser version for a message to a friend — and one line on the thing worth remembering. • Hear every answer. Each example comes with a British, American or Australian voice, male or female, and the phonetic transcription under the words. Tap once to save it straight into your drills. • Practise what you keep getting wrong. A ten-round daily session built from your own saved phrases and the mistakes the app has been quietly noting. Answer out loud or type. You get marked one answer at a time, with your own sentence next to the correction — so you can see exactly what changed. Everything you save becomes something to shadow: listen, repeat, record yourself, compare. DARK MODE The whole app now follows your phone, or you can pin it to Light or Dark in Profile. Dark for the bus home and the sofa after midnight, light for the morning train. Practising at night shouldn't feel like staring at a torch. ALSO IN THIS UPDATE • Dictation types where your cursor is — skip a question, come back to it, and your words land in the right place. • Anything you type while the mic is on stays yours. • Sharper transcription for imported files and YouTube clips. • Crop, trim and rotate any clip after you've added it. • Fixes across drilling, saved phrases and exports.

This update is about making shadowing practice more effective and helping the phrases you drill stick. • Drill what you need. Group phrases and clips into folders and practise those sets. • Quiz yourself. The app hides the trickiest words in a phrase, so you have to say them from memory instead of reading along. • Faster where it matters. Controls respond the instant you tap, so you stay in the rhythm of the phrase instead of being interrupted. • Smoother and steadier throughout, with more reliable playback and better exports.

This update makes your practice smarter and smoother: • Sharper AI examples — the sentences you generate are now more natural, logical, and genuinely worth drilling. • New "Context or instructions" field — tell Shadow the topic, tone, or situation, and it builds your examples and dialogues around it. • Clearer phonetic (IPA) transcription. • Jump straight into Practice from any clip with the new microphone button. Thanks for shadowing with us — keep the feedback coming!

• Smoother, more reliable drilling — no more stalls when your screen is off or you're on the move • Evened-out volume so louder phrases no longer blast your ears • The Practice/Save tag is now easy to dismiss — just tap any empty space • One playback order button (Shuffle / Newest / Oldest) that remembers your choice • Freshly generated examples now open on your newest phrases first • Apple Watch: full drilling remote — control repeat, pause and speed from your wrist while audio stays on your phone • Cleaner audio cuts between phrases • Various bug fixes and improvements

Make Shadow your own: • Create your own drills — turn any phrase into natural voiced examples, or generate a short dialogue or monologue to shadow. • Record from another app — grab a Reel, TikTok, or any video (with sound) straight into Shadow to practice.

Create your own practice content! Turn any word, phrase or topic into voiced examples, dialogues or monologues — spoken aloud for you to shadow. • Choose the accent (American or British) and the voices • A few free generations to try, then top up with credit packs • Clearer, louder generated audio • Smoother create flow and lots of small fixes
