Kirityp is a native Markdown editor for macOS and iPad with a live preview that is not a preview of the PDF — it is the PDF, live. Real pages with real margins, breaking where they will break on paper, with the running footer already on them. The preview and the export come from the same renderer and the same stylesheet, so they cannot disagree.
Paste code from anywhere and it arrives fenced and already labelled with its language. Documents live in iCloud Drive, so you start on the Mac and carry on from the iPad without an account, a sync service or anything to configure. One subscription covers both.
WRITING AND READING IN ONE WINDOW
Most Markdown tools are a previewer or an editor. Nearly all the good native ones are readers: you write somewhere else and preview there. Kirityp puts writing, reading and printing in one window, and treats the printed result as the point rather than a by-product. Drag the divider where your line length wants it. In a narrow window, or on an iPad in Slide Over, the panes swap instead of squeezing.
EXPORT IS ONE PRESS
A labelled button in the toolbar, and Command-E. A4 or US Letter, with a footer carrying the document title, the date and the page number.
BUILT FOR A MEDIUM THAT HAS PAGES
Every Markdown app can tint a code block. Almost none were built to be printed.
• Long lines fold instead of running off the edge of the page.
• Code blocks move to the next page rather than splitting two lines from the rest.
• Tables break between rows, never through one, and repeat their header.
• A heading is bound to whatever follows it, so it never sits alone at the foot of a page.
• The syntax palette varies in lightness as well as hue, so a block still reads as code on a mono office printer.
PASTE AS CODE
Copy code from anywhere and press Shift-Command-V. Whatever is on the clipboard arrives as a fenced block, already labelled with its language — Swift, Python, SQL, Go, Rust, TypeScript, YAML, shell and twenty more, identified on the device at the moment you press the key.
THREE WAYS FOR THE SAME DOCUMENT TO LOOK
Manuscript — serif, generous margins. For prose that will be read.
Report — dense sans-serif with ruled tables. For documents that will be filed.
Technical — larger monospace with a language label on each block. For pages that are mostly code.
A theme changes the preview and the export together, because they are the same stylesheet.
START ON THE MAC, CARRY ON FROM THE IPAD
Documents live in iCloud Drive and follow you between devices the way notes do — no account to make, nothing to configure. They are ordinary .md files in a folder you can open in the Finder or in Files, so nothing is trapped: open the same files in any other Markdown app, or in TextEdit, whenever you like. Open, save, rename, duplicate, versions and Handoff all come from macOS and iPadOS themselves, so they behave exactly as you expect.
NOTHING LEAVES THE DEVICE
Rendering, highlighting and PDF export all happen on the device, and your documents are never uploaded. No account, no service of ours, no telemetry.
FREE, AND PRO
The editor, the full live preview, Paste as Code, the Manuscript theme and both paper sizes are free. Free exports carry a Kirityp watermark. Kirityp Pro removes it and adds the Report and Technical themes and custom footer text. One subscription covers the Mac and the iPad.
Kirityp Pro is an auto-renewable subscription, offered monthly or annually. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase, and renews automatically unless it is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel it in Settings, under your Apple Account.
