FIXED A headset switched off while your phone was nearby could leave you with no warning at all. The app stays quiet when headphones simply move over to your phone — that is not a disconnection worth a notification — but it was keeping quiet about the battery too. Now a low battery is always announced, whichever device ends up holding the connection.

Low battery now gets through Do Not Disturb. The warning that your headphones are running out is the one you cannot afford to miss, and until now a Focus mode swallowed it like any other notification. It is now sent at the highest urgency an app is allowed to ask for, and where the system will not carry it that far you get the alert in the middle of the screen instead — a window is not a notification, so nothing hides it. Either way you find out while there is still something left to save. On by default. Settings → Notifications has a switch if you would rather keep the quiet. It fires once per discharge, and only again after a charge. FIXED Disconnect notifications could go missing entirely once a phone was paired. The app was too quick to conclude that a device had simply moved over to the phone, and stayed silent about ones that had actually just gone flat. It now checks that device's own status on the phone instead of guessing from the name.

Now the menu bar says which device it is talking about. Each battery reading is preceded by the icon of the device it belongs to — headphones, watch, mouse, whatever it is — so a menu bar showing two devices no longer shows two numbers with nothing to tell them apart. It is the same icon you see in the panel, and if you picked one by hand for a device, that is the one that shows. Prefer the shorter menu bar? Settings → Menu bar has a switch to turn the icons off and leave just the battery and the percentage.

Your phone's batteries, on your Mac. PAIR YOUR PHONE Scan a QR code and the popup gains a second section with everything your phone can see and this Mac cannot: the phone's own charge, your watch, and any accessory connected over there. It travels end-to-end encrypted, and the relay that carries it cannot read it. Earbuds paired on both show up once, not twice. Needs the BT Battery Notifier app on the phone — the website has it. FIVE ALERTS, EACH ONE YOURS TO SET Every alert now says plainly when it fires, and two of them are new: • Low battery while you are still wearing them. Before, the app could only speak up at the moment a device disconnected, so headphones worn all day never warned you. • Charge reached, for the devices that can report charging — this Mac, your phone and your watch. Set it to 100%, or to 80% if that is where you like to stop. Connect and disconnect notices became three choices — always, only when the battery is low, or never — with their own threshold, separate from the low-battery one. EVERY DEVICE CAN HAVE ITS OWN RULES Give one pair of headphones a threshold of 30% and mute the car entirely. Anything you leave alone keeps following your defaults, including when you change them later. A SETTINGS WINDOW THAT FITS Devices now live in a sidebar, each with its own page: where it appears, its icon, its alerts, whether it is archived. Menu bar, defaults, phone and archive each got a page too. ALSO NEW • This Mac appears in its own list, so you can pin its battery to the menu bar next to everything else. It starts archived — restore it if you want it. • Charging devices say so, with the time left to full when they know it. • An About page with the version and a link to the site. FIXED • A device that moved to your phone could be announced as disconnected every 75 seconds, with a low-battery alert attached. It no longer is. • Your watch's charging state now arrives the moment it changes.
