1,150 hand-verified boards, from a gentle 4x4 warm-up to an 18x18 expert grid. Every one has exactly one solution, so nothing is ever guesswork. Plays fully offline.
Shikaku is the classic Japanese logic puzzle - also called rectangle division, sikaku, or simply patches. Every grid is scattered with numbered clues. Draw a rectangle around each number so it covers exactly that many squares, then cover the whole board. No arithmetic, no guessing, no time pressure. Just clean logic and the quiet click of a grid falling into place.
Recto gives you 1,150 hand-verified boards, from a gentle 4x4 warm-up to an 18x18 grid that will hold you for a whole evening.
WHY PUZZLE PLAYERS STAY
- 1,150 handcrafted levels across 5 tiers: Baby (50), Easy (100), Medium (200), Hard (300) and Expert (500)
- Grids from 4x4 up to 18x18 - the difficulty curve is built by hand, not thrown together at random
- Every board is verified to have exactly one solution, so a board you are stuck on is always solvable by pure reasoning
- Smart hints reveal the next correct rectangle when you want a nudge instead of a walkthrough
- Undo any move, reset a board, and track your solve time
- Daily and weekly missions - Speed Run, No Hint, Flawless, Marathon - with trophies and a streak to keep
- Cloud save through Game Center, so your progress follows you across iPhone and iPad
- Plays fully offline. No wifi, no account, no interruptions
- Free to play. A few hints are free and a short rewarded ad earns more. No subscription, nothing locked behind a purchase

Sudoku, Nonogram, Kakuro, crosswords and number games - Shikaku sits in the same family, and it takes about thirty seconds to learn.
HOW TO PLAY
1. Find a numbered square
2. Drag to draw a rectangle that contains it
3. Make the rectangle's area equal to the number
4. Cover every square on the board, one number per rectangle
That is the whole rule set. The depth comes from the order you solve them in.
BUILT TO BE CALM
No timer shouting at you, no lives, no energy meter, no pop-up in the middle of a puzzle. A board that scales to your screen, light and dark themes, and 46 languages.
Think in rectangles. Draw the patches. Solve the grid.
