Everything is unlocked while Snipkin is in early access: area, window, full-screen and scrolling capture, markup, and a history that clears itself. No account, no card. Snipkin takes a screenshot, lets you mark it up, and puts it where you need it. It lives in the menu bar, opens no window until you ask, and never sends anything anywhere. FOUR WAYS TO CAPTURE ⌃⇧1: an area, dragged with the mouse ⌃⇧2: a single window, picked with a click ⌃⇧3: the whole screen ⌃⇧4: a scrolling capture Scrolling capture is the one most tools skip. Select just the visible part, release, then scroll through the page with the mouse wheel. Snipkin stitches what passed by into one tall image. Click Done, or press ⌃⇧4 again, when you reach the end. MARK IT UP RIGHT AWAY After each capture a thumbnail appears; click it to open the editor: arrows, rectangles, ovals, lines, freehand pen, highlighter and text, in seven colours and three thicknesses. Undo with ⌘Z, redo with ⇧⌘Z. Move an annotation after you have drawn it, or select it and press Delete. When you are done, Copy, Save, or share it straight from the toolbar. IT SAVES BY ITSELF The first time you capture, Snipkin asks once where screenshots should go. After that every capture lands there as a PNG on its own, and on your clipboard too if you want both. Prefer to keep your folders clean? Choose Clipboard Only and nothing is saved to them; Recent Captures still keeps a copy inside Snipkin for as long as you choose. A HISTORY THAT FORGETS Copying something else over a screenshot used to mean losing it. Recent Captures keeps the last ones as a grid of thumbnails; click one to open it back in the editor. You decide how long they stay: one day, one week, or until the space runs out. Clear History empties the list, and can empty the folder along with it if you tick the box. SMALL THINGS THAT ADD UP • A drop shadow on window captures, or not, your call • Full screen after five seconds, for menus that close when you click away • Open the file automatically after saving • Launch at login • The captures folder is one menu item away in Finder NOTHING LEAVES YOUR MAC Snipkin is sandboxed by macOS and ships without the network entitlement, so it cannot make a single connection, not to us and not to anyone. No account, no sign-in, no analytics, no crash reporting. Your screenshots stay on your Mac: in the folder you chose, on your clipboard, and in a short history you control. It asks for Screen Recording, which macOS requires of anything that reads the screen, and may ask to show notifications, which are optional. FREE WHILE IT FINDS ITS FEET Snipkin is in early access. Every feature is unlocked, with no trial, no card and nothing to buy. Full-screen capture, the editor and the history are free today, like everything else. Paid plans may come later; if they do, the update will say so before anything changes. Written in Swift, with no third-party code. It lives in the menu bar, shows in the Dock only while one of its windows is open, and weighs about a megabyte.

  • This app hasn’t received enough ratings or reviews to display an overview.

• A new app icon. • Snipkin now appears in the Dock and in Cmd-Tab while one of its windows is open, so the editor or Recent Captures never gets lost behind other apps. • Privacy Policy is now one click away in the menu. • Saving is safer: a full disk can no longer leave a half-written screenshot behind. • Discard now moves saved copies to the Trash instead of deleting them. • If another app already uses one of Snipkin's shortcuts, Snipkin tells you at launch. • No more welcome notification while Snipkin is free in early access.
