The IRS does not accept a mileage log written in April. The rule is
"at or near the time" of the trip, and courts have thrown out records
built from memory at tax time.
Mileform makes today's record take two taps, then hands you the file
your accountant actually wants. Nothing is uploaded. There is no account
and no bank connection.
WHAT THE IRS REQUIRES — AND WHAT MILEFORM CAPTURES
Every trip carries all four required fields: date, start and destination,
business purpose, and miles. Business purpose is the field people skip
and the one auditors ask about, so it sits in the middle of the screen
with your recent purposes one tap away.

2026 changed mid-year: 72.5 cents per mile through June 30, then 76
cents from July 1. Apps that multiply by one rate report the wrong
number. Mileform splits every report at the boundary and calculates
each period at its own rate.
The IRS publishes the next year's rate in December. Mileform picks it
up on its own, and you can always type a rate in yourself — for next
year's figure the day it is announced, for the charity or medical
rate, or for an employer who reimburses at their own rate. Your rate
wins over everything else, and every report says where a rate came
from.
RECEIPTS, SCANNED ON DEVICE
Photograph a receipt and Mileform reads the merchant, amount and date
using Apple's on-device text recognition. Every field is editable before
you save, because no scanner is ever right every time. Under $75 you can
throw the paper away — but you still have to keep the record. Mileform
keeps it.
EXPORT THAT SURVIVES AN AUDIT
PDF summary and CSV, split by rate period, with all four fields per
trip. Receipts are totaled by Schedule C line, the way the form asks
for them.
Records are meant to be kept three years, six if income was understated
by more than 25 percent, so export and archive are core features here,
not extras.
