Markloom is a local-first Markdown workspace for macOS.
Open Markdown directly, or convert text and scanned PDFs into editable Markdown. Text extraction uses PDFKit and scanned pages use Apple Vision OCR—entirely on your Mac. Select a recovered passage to jump back to its page and highlighted source region.
Save an open .markloom project with its source and provenance, or export Markdown, HTML, PDF, or DOCX using Standard or Reading presets. Open a typeset HTML preview in your browser anytime.
Privacy by design:
• No account, subscription, ads, or in-app purchases
• No analytics or tracking SDKs
• No document upload or online conversion service
• Local counters are visible, resettable, and never sent automatically
Version 1.0 uses a Markdown source editor. PDF conversion recovers semantic text; it does not reproduce the original page design. Formula OCR and formula rendering are not included.
