Read for Rewards turns reading a real, paper book into points a child can spend on something they actually want. They photograph a few pages. The phone reads them, thinks up questions about what happened, and marks the answers. Get it right first time and it is worth three points. Go back to the book, find it, and it is worth one — because looking again is worth more than guessing again. A grown-up decides what the points buy. An hour on the console. Choosing dinner. Staying up half an hour later. The best rewards cost a household nothing. IT ALL HAPPENS ON THE PHONE Reading the pages and thinking up the questions both happen on the phone itself, using Apple Intelligence. There is no account to make, nothing to sign in to, and it works in aeroplane mode. What your child reads, how they answer, and their points stay on the phone. Photographs of pages are deleted the moment the words have been read from them. FOR SEVERAL CHILDREN Set up as many readers as share the phone. Each gets their own points, their own reading, and their own colours — so it is never a mystery whose turn it is. Rewards can belong to the household or to one child. FOR GROWN-UPS Behind a PIN: what has been read and when, how many words, how many questions were right, and the sittings themselves with every question and answer. Set up the rewards, and spend the points when they have been earned. Children cannot reach any of it, and cannot award themselves anything. WHAT YOU NEED An iPhone 15 Pro or newer, running iOS 26, with Apple Intelligence switched on. The questions are written by the phone's own model, and that is the hardware it takes. WHAT IT COSTS Fifty pages free. Then one payment unlocks the app for every reader in the house — no subscription, nothing recurring, nothing to cancel.

A right answer first time is now worth three points instead of two. Going back to the book and finding it is still worth one — reading properly should be clearly better than chancing a guess, and now it is. Retaking a book's cover photo shows the new picture rather than the first one. The camera comes back when you return to the app, instead of waiting on a blank screen. In the grown-ups' area: each reader now appears in their own colours, the privacy policy is a tap away, and a reward's price is shown as roughly how much reading it takes.
