Cathedra records your lectures and turns them into text on your iPhone, so you can stop writing things down and actually listen. RECORD WITHOUT THINKING ABOUT IT Add your timetable once and Cathedra reminds you a few minutes before each class, with recording one tap away from the Lock Screen. Lock your phone and leave it on the desk — recording carries on. Pause it when the lecturer takes a break and resume when they come back. READ IT BACK AFTERWARDS Every recording becomes a timestamped transcript. Tap any line to hear exactly what was said at that moment, so you never have to trust the text over the audio. Play back at up to double speed. The original audio is always kept, because a transcript is a convenience and the recording is the record. Type a term and see every moment across the whole semester where it came up — including all the times a lecturer said "this is in the exam". MORE THAN 40 LANGUAGES Set the language your lecturer actually speaks, per course. Cathedra uses your iPhone's own speech recognition, which covers more than forty languages. The interface itself is translated into 22. IT STAYS ON YOUR IPHONE No account. No sign-in. No cloud. No analytics, no tracking, no third-party code of any kind. Your recordings, transcripts and timetable are stored on your device and nowhere else. The only thing that touches the network is iOS downloading a speech model the first time you transcribe a new language, and that download carries no audio and nothing about your lectures. WORTH KNOWING BEFORE YOU RECORD Recording a lecture captures someone else's voice. Whether you may do that is decided by the law where you are and by your university's rules. Many institutions allow it for personal study and prohibit sharing; some ask you to get permission first. Please check, and do not publish a recording of someone who did not agree to it. Cathedra is free, with no in-app purchases and no subscription.
