Choose cross stitch or hand embroidery when opening a photo. Try the new botanical wreath with its thread plan and printable outline. PDF import and scan calibration are more reliable. Examples and previews are free; saving your own projects requires the one-time Pro unlock. Existing purchases and saved projects remain available. Closing the paywall keeps your prepared work.

Backstitch, knots and beads from an imported chart now travel with the chart to your other devices, and so do the reference photos you pin to a project. Before this update a chart could arrive on your iPad without its outline stitches or its photos. Every button now has a name for VoiceOver: the park corners in the stitch sheet, the page arrows when you correct a photographed chart, and the switches on the pattern screens. With Reduce Motion on, the pattern editor and the import steps no longer animate. Opening a big multi-page chart uses far less memory on the way in, so a large PDF no longer slows the whole device down while you check the read. A purchase you start on the App Store during the first-run screens is now remembered if the app is closed before you finish them; it completes the next time you open the app. A note that arrives in a Tondo file keeps the date it was written, so the newest version of a note always wins.

The text tool works on iPhone and iPad. It shipped unable to respond to a drag, so a dragged word landed nowhere. Now the letters follow your finger across the grid and settle where you lift it. Letters come in two sizes. The smaller letters fit short words into patterns where the taller ones had no room. A control beside the size readout switches between them. On iPad the canvas, the library and the tools use the whole screen. They no longer show a phone layout stretched to fit. The list of thread colours now shows every code in full. A four-digit DMC number was being cut short. Undo and redo now sit with the drawing tools, instead of in the navigation bar. Settings rows respond wherever you tap them. Settings also has a new page, How this app is made, about how Tondo is built and what happens to your work. If you have asked your device to reduce motion, the last screens that ignored that now follow it. The canvas jumps straight to a stitch instead of gliding there. A thread's progress bar changes length without sliding.
