Sift auto-detects recipes while you browse in Safari and pulls them in on its own. No share sheet.
You already know how this goes... You find a recipe, and it's buried under nine paragraphs about someone's trip to Tuscany, four ads, and a video that follows you down the page. Then you start cooking, your hands are covered in chicken, and the screen goes dark.
Sift fixes the parts of cooking from a phone that are ACTUALLY annoying.
- SAFARI AUTO-DETECTS AND IMPORTS RECIPES TO YOUR LIBRARY
Turn on the Safari extension and a small bar appears whenever a page has a recipe on it. One tap and you have the ingredients and the steps on a clean card, with a link back to the person who wrote it. Nothing to copy, nothing to paste.
- THE SCREEN STAYS ON
Cook Mode is big type you can read from across the counter, with steps you tap to check off as you go. The screen stays awake until you leave, so you're not nudging your phone with a knuckle every ninety seconds.
- TIMERS THAT SET THEMSELVES UP
When a step says "smoke for 10 hours," Sift turns that into a timer you start with one tap. It counts down on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island with the app closed, named for what it's timing. Stopping one takes two deliberate taps, because a stray touch shouldn't end a two-hour rest.
- QUIT THE APP, KEEP YOUR PLACE
Close Sift mid-cook, force-quit it, whatever. When you come back, a bar offers to pick up exactly where you were, timer still counting.
- TWO RECIPES, SIDE BY SIDE
Most cooks don't follow one recipe. You open three versions of a dish, borrow the best ideas from each, and make your own. Compare puts two recipes next to each other, each column scrolling on its own, and pulls out where they disagree: the temperature, the time, the rest, what you'd have to buy.
- OUT OF BUTTERMILK?
Sift suggests the substitute, how much of it to use, and what changes if you use it. Scaling works the same way: take a recipe from half a batch to 10x and every amount follows.
- WORKS WITH NO SIGNAL
Saved recipes open with no connection at all. If you cook somewhere the wifi doesn't reach, that matters more than any feature on this list.
- NO "UNSUPPORTED SITE ERRORS," EVER
Sift reads a page four different ways, and the last one is you pasting the text in yourself. Every route ends at the same clean, editable card.
- ALSO
Arrange your library in whatever order makes sense to you. See at a glance which recipes you've actually cooked. Add your own photo to any recipe. Light mode, dark mode, or whatever your phone is doing. Share a recipe or just its ingredient list, with the scaled amounts. Deleted something by mistake? You have six seconds to take it back.
FREE, WITH NO ADS! You don't need an account to start. Your recipes live on your phone, and nothing about you is for sale.
I cook on a daily basis and am constantly navigating various recipe websites. This app has transformed that entire process for me. I’m able to quickly view recipes in a clean format, search for recipes online AND have Safari auto-detect content to automatically open the recipe in Sift. The compare functionality is great, especially when I don’t want to follow a recipe verbatim. I can honestly say, this app shines over other apps that do similar things. I’ve never seen auto-detect in another app, and that really sets this app apart!
Great App, such a time saver

Can't tell you how many times I've found a recipe I've wanted to cook only to get bogged down with ads or having to read some tangential aside about someone's grandmother. Now I can just get to the recipe. Super easy to use and really a must have for anyone who likes to find new recipes online.
Great place to save all your recipes!

Great app to save all my favorite recipes! I especially enjoyed the feature that goes step by step during the cooking process to ensure I don’t miss anything. Will definitely continue growing my personal recipe catalog!

I found this app so helpful. I am not the greatest cook but I don’t mind trying to follow a recipe. With this app I found it so easy to use. It even substituted ingredients that I didn’t have. This will be my go to when cooking.
