The app is in German and Spanish, and so is the trip. Ask for four days in Lisbon in German and the days, the stops and the line explaining each one come back in German. Place names stay as they are written where they stand, because a phone held up to a taxi driver needs the name on the sign. It follows your phone's language; there is no setting to find. Friends and family. Choose an @name, send a link, and whoever accepts sees your year in the air beside theirs — hours, flights and distance, and nothing else. Opt-in, and the only part of the app that puts anything about you on a server. Opening one stop in Google Maps now searches its city as well. A café in Athens called Seychelles used to open the islands, four thousand miles away. And the first stop after a journey in knows about your luggage again: the planner has always written "after the bags are dropped", and the app had never been able to read it.

Your year in the air. Let the app read where this year's photos were taken and it works out the places, the flights between them and the kilometres — on the phone, in about a second, without opening a single picture. What comes out is a video made for posting: the year in large type, a plane crossing a dotted globe from airport to airport, the distance climbing under it, and the totals at the end. It is drawn and encoded on your phone, so there is nothing to upload and nothing to queue, and Open in Instagram lands in the composer with the clip already selected. It is a heuristic and the screen says so: two places far enough apart are taken to have been flown between, so a long drive flatters the year and a flight with no photos at either end is missed. The coordinates are dropped the moment the year is worked out. What is kept is a list of airports and a distance, on the phone. None of it is sent anywhere. Reminded to plan the next one. Leave it a while without planning anything and the app asks — a day after your last plan, a week after, a month after, and then it stops rather than finding a fourth way to ask. Settings › Reminders has the switch and says when the next one is due. A shared plan now carries its maps. Send somebody a link and each day arrives with a picture of that day's map — its own pins, numbered, and the route between them — photographed on the phone when the link was made.

Group trips. Start one, send the link to a group chat, and everyone who joins says how they travel, when they can go, and one sentence on what they want from it. The plan is then built for all of you: it waits until everyone has answered and there is a stretch of dates every one of you can make, and it is never proposed for days one of you said no to. The month shows who is free when, with a colour for each of you, and marks the days somebody would be working. Say you cannot make it and the group carries on without you. Before anything is planned the trip settles where it is going and checks that each of you can actually get there on day one, which is the question a shared calendar cannot answer. The whole app has been redrawn. Type is set on one scale rather than twenty-five ad-hoc sizes, every icon is drawn instead of borrowed from an emoji font, and cards carry real depth — so a warning, a stop and a footnote no longer read alike. Home knows whether you have a trip. It opens on your most recent one, drawn as its own map, rather than on a blank box. Where you are sleeping is settled before the plan is written. Paste a Booking.com or Airbnb link and the page is read on your phone, so the days are built around the address you actually booked rather than a guess. Subscription says plainly what you are on, with the day, week and month ceilings drawn as bars rather than recited in a sentence. Every page with a back arrow now also comes back on a swipe in from the left edge. Days are labelled by date rather than "Day 2", costs lead with one total, and tapping a stop on the map gets you down to that block.
