Four new effects about time, each with its own sample clip. • Afterimage: whoever moves leaves a fading copy of themselves behind, and it catches up when they stop. • Half a Beat: a second you follows a few frames late, catching up every few frames. • Long Shutter: fast motion smears into a streak, like a shutter left open a little longer; whatever stands still stays sharp. • Freeze: the picture stops for a few seconds while the sound runs on, then cuts back. Moment sets where, Hold for sets how long, and the timeline shows the stop. • Discover has a new Time shelf, where the four loop on their own clips. • Freeze is the first Pro effect: viewing, previewing and remixing it are free; exporting needs Video Lab Pro. • Subject effects now preview on a new tracked clip; Halo no longer uses the old animated one.

A new room. • A dark screening-room interface: the picture is the only colour. On Discover, effects loop on their own clips, each card shows how long it runs and when it happens, and Use is right on the card. • Every effect now has its own sample clip: light, glass, glitch, retro and colour each get one, instead of eight cards of the same person. • Effect details fill the screen, with the timeline on the edge of the picture so you can see the moments. • On the editing screen the picture starts at the top edge; back, the project name and press-to-compare float on it, over one dark panel. • New effect, Wave Warp: the whole frame ripples like a flag and straight poles bend into an S. Speed is adjustable. That makes forty-three skills. • Projects gains a My Effects shelf, so your work and your effects share one page; Create keeps just New and Remix. • Choose an appearance in Mine: dark, system or light. • New app icon and tab icons. • Now on iPad.

Effects that move to the music. • Add music to any project: a track from Files, the sound from a video in your library, or the clip's own sound. Choose where it starts. A photo with music exports as a video with sound. • Tap music icon on any slider and it follows the beat. It rests where you set it and kicks on every hit; you set how hard. The timeline now shows the waveform and every beat. • Beat detection listens for the song's pulse, so busy drums no longer make an effect twitch. • New effect, Beat Punch: on every hit the picture punches forward and a ghost springs off and fades. It follows the beat out of the box. • Three new skills: Zoom In, Radial Blur and Soul Out. That makes forty-two. • Import photos and clips from Files, not only from your photo library. • No music yet? Beat effects keep time to a 120 BPM stand-in until you add a track. • Reset now takes an effect back to how its author made it, and can be undone. • The export mark now simply reads "Video Lab".
