Seder Olam — Jewish Timeline
6,000 years of Jewish history
Free · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
A timeline of Jewish history from Creation to the year 6000 — 587
events and 984 articles on people, places, books and ideas, every
date shown together with its source.
THE TIMELINE
Drag with a finger and the centuries move under your hand. Life spans
show who lived alongside whom, and the shape of each bar says what is
actually known: recorded years of birth and death, years of reign, or
only the years the sources speak of.
TIME SLICE
Put the marker on any year and see who was alive: the sages and
figures of Jewish history, and separately those who lived elsewhere in
the world at the same moment.
THE CHAIN OF TRANSMISSION
The forty links of Maimonides — from Moses to Rav Ashi — the sealing
of the Talmud, and the later succession of halakhic authority. Every
link is named and grounded.
TWO CHRONOLOGIES, HONESTLY
Dates follow the count of Seder Olam Rabbah; where academic dating
differs, the app says so plainly and gives both figures.
A MORNING FACT
Once a day your phone shows one "Did you know?" card — there are more
than two hundred of them. The phone builds the notification itself:
nothing leaves the device.
ALSO INSIDE
World map, genealogy, the Jewish year and its months, the weekly
portion, today in history, self-test by era, an index and a glossary,
prayers, communities and the sages of the Talmud.
Works offline: the whole reference lives inside the app.
Articles in Russian and English; interface also in Hebrew, Spanish
and German.
Ratings & Reviews
- This app hasn’t received enough ratings or reviews to display an overview.
The app now carries the full reference base — the same one as the website.
- 1,049 sages and figures, 633 events, 173 books, 137 places, 169 concepts.
- Teacher–student lines re-checked one by one against the sources: doubtful and mistaken links removed, missing ones added.
- New — Show on the timeline. In any article the golden year badge is now a button: tap it and the timeline opens at that year, with the time slice — who was alive alongside.
- Time slice: more room, and the "who was alive" list now reads on one line.
- Small things you see every day: capitalised labels, no more doubled icons in the menu, and a top bar that no longer wraps on the phone.
