Everyone gets the same secret word on their own phone. Everyone except one. Say a word each out loud, then vote for whoever you think is bluffing. One of you is lying. The rest of you have to work out who. Phony is a party game for the people already in the room. Everybody gets the same secret word on their own phone. Everybody except one, who gets nothing at all and has to pretend otherwise. HOW IT WORKS Take it in turns to say one word out loud about the secret word. That is the whole game. Say something too obvious and you hand it to the imposter. Say something too vague and the room turns on you. The imposter has to say a word too, with nothing to go on. Bluff it, borrow from whatever everyone else just said, and hope it lands. Then everybody votes, imposter included. Sitting it out gives you away. WHAT YOU NEED Three or more people, one phone each, and somewhere to sit. One person starts a room and reads out a three word invite code. Everyone else types it in. That is the setup done. There is no account, no email address, and no password. Open it and play. WHY IT WORKS The word you pick is the whole game. It is proof to your friends and a clue to your enemy, and it has to be both at once. Good players hide in plain sight. Great players get voted out anyway. Rounds run a couple of minutes. Nobody sits out, nobody is eliminated, and you can run it again immediately with a new word and a new imposter. Built for a table, a pub, a long car journey, or the awkward half hour after dinner. Free, with no adverts and nothing to buy.
