14 CFR 65.23 incorporates the Aviation Mechanic Airman Certification Standards by reference, which makes it both the syllabus and the law. This app covers all 495 knowledge elements across the 40 subject areas of the three tests, and every question names the element it was written from. When you want to check a claim, you are one code away from the source rather than trusting a study guide.
THREE OPTIONS, LIKE THE REAL TEST
FAA mechanic questions give you three choices, not four. Practising on four-option items trains elimination habits that do not transfer. Every multiple-choice item here has three options.
FULL-LENGTH TIMED FORMS
60 questions for General, 100 each for Airframe and Powerplant, two hours apiece, 70 percent to pass — the real shape of each sitting. Forms are drawn across every ACS subject area in that test, in proportion to the knowledge elements each one carries, and you get a per-subject breakdown at the end so you know where the marks went.
WORKED SOLUTIONS, NOT BARE ANSWERS
Compression ratio, piston displacement, brake horsepower, weight and balance, electrical load, blade angle. Every calculation shows its steps with the units carried through, so when you get one wrong you can see which line you lost it on instead of guessing.

Weight and balance, Ohm's law, engine math, unit conversions. They stay free whether you buy anything or not, because a mechanic uses these numbers on shift for a whole career and a reference tool you have to subscribe to is a reference tool you stop opening.

Powerplant passes at 63 percent, the lowest rate of any knowledge test the FAA administers, and Airframe and General are not far behind. Failing costs a test fee and a 30-day wait. This app is built for the retake as much as the first attempt.

Adds an occasional invitation to rate the app on the App Store. It appears a few seconds after the app opens, no more than a few times a year, and never once you have left a rating. Also restores the Rate this app link in Settings, which was missing in 1.0. Lessons, quizzes and the field calculators are unchanged.
