Trips, dinners, shared rent - when several people have each paid for different things, working out who owes whom turns into arithmetic nobody wants to do at the end of a holiday. Settle keeps the running total and does that arithmetic for you. Add each expense as it happens and balances update immediately: who paid what, and who owes whom right now. When it is time to square up, Settle works out the fewest payments that clear every debt - so four people with tangled balances settle in two or three transfers instead of a dozen. Anyone can sit out a single expense without leaving the group. Currencies with three decimal places - Jordanian dinar, Kuwaiti dinar, Bahraini dinar, Omani rial, Tunisian dinar - are handled to the fils rather than rounded to cents.
