Aura · El tiempo
Spain's weather, with soul
Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
Aura is Spain's weather, told calmly from open data with public access.
Every forecast comes from AEMET, the State Meteorological Agency, through its OpenData API, with air quality from MITECO. No middlemen: the open data, presented clearly.
AT A GLANCE
• Your municipality's forecast: sky, temperature, rain and wind.
• AEMET's own written outlook for today and the days ahead.
• Next hours, hour by hour.
• The day's maximum UV index and air quality by pollutant.
• AEMET (CAP) warnings for your town; when there is nothing to report, there are none.
SUN AND MOON, WHERE THEY REALLY ARE
The sun crosses the screen at its real position; after dark the moon takes over in the same place, with true moonrise and moonset. The background shifts with the hour and the weather, and you can pick landscape or cityscape.
EVERYWHERE
The same app on iPhone, iPad and Mac, plus an Apple Watch companion with face complications for rain chance, UV and sun times, and Home and Lock Screen widgets.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
No account, no tracking, no ads. Your location is used only to find your municipality and request its forecast. Nothing reaches me: there is no server of mine. Open source.
DATA SOURCES
Aura shows information from open-data repositories with public access:
• AEMET OpenData (forecast, warnings, radar): https://opendata.aemet.es
• MITECO Air Quality Index (ICA): https://www.miteco.gob.es
• Copernicus (CAMS) UV index, via Open-Meteo: https://atmosphere.copernicus.eu
Aura is an independent app. It is not affiliated with, and does not represent, AEMET, MITECO, or any government entity.
Aura covers Spain and is in Spanish.
Ratings & Reviews
- This app hasn’t received enough ratings or reviews to display an overview.
What's new:
• Two new cards on iPhone and iPad, from AEMET's national products: a surface analysis map (isobars, pressure centers and fronts, with zoom and a legend) and the national text forecast written by AEMET's forecasters, with today on the card and the next four days a tap away.
• The interface now follows your device language. On a non-Spanish device the app, the widget setup and the Watch read in English, while the forecast keeps AEMET's own Spanish wording.
• Current temperature and sky are worked out the moment you look, so a reading cached yesterday no longer shows yesterday's weather. This now covers the Lock Screen and the Watch complications too.
• The nearest-station card only appears when its reading is genuinely recent.
• Widgets flag when their data is stale, refresh their own location when needed, and recover a location that was stuck with no reading.
• A new help page explains how fresh each reading is and when it updates.
