A calm storybook for one- to four-year-olds, in Mandarin, English and Bahasa Melayu.
Three things at once, and it is the combination that is hard to find:
· Your child hears a familiar voice — yours, if you record it
· Three languages, all of them fully taught, not one with language packs
· A session that ends. We hand them back to you.
Tap a picture and it says the word, makes its sound, then says something about it. "Cow. Mooooo. Brown cow." It never asks your child a question, because a question is a test, and a child who cannot answer one learns that talking is a test too.
THE SAME WORDS, ALL THE WAY THROUGH
Cat becomes "The cat is sleeping" becomes a story with a cat in it becomes a song you sing together. One vocabulary, six ways of meeting it.
· 153 words, every one in all three languages, with pinyin
· 37 short sentences built only from those words
· 32 stories, from four pages for the youngest to fifteen for a whole bedtime
· 3 songs — the tune plays and you sing, because a robot singing to a baby is not the point
· Chinese characters and printed letters, traced stroke by stroke in the right order
· Counting to fifty, and five things to play. None of them is a test.
YOUR OWN VOICE
Record any word, sentence or song yourself, and your child hears you instead of the app. Four built-in English voices to choose from if you would rather. Recordings never leave your phone.
MADE TO BE CALM
No scores. No stars. No streaks. No badges. No autoplay. No music stings. A pause after every spoken line, so there is a gap for your child to speak into. Set a daily limit and the app stops for the day — whatever is being read finishes first, so nobody is cut off mid-sentence.
FOR THE GROWN-UP
Ask for more Mandarin and the app tells you whether your child is actually getting it, counted on your device from taps in the app. Nothing is uploaded. There is no account.
NO ADS. NO TRACKING. NO DATA COLLECTION. Works with no signal.
