moments captured on tape that age with you
Before photographs. Before film. There was voice.
Taeppl is a cassette recorder for real moments — the ones you don't stage, don't edit, don't perfect. Choose how much room your tape holds, then record in bursts across a trip, a day, an occasion. Stop and resume whenever something's happening. When the tape's full, it's full.
Nothing gets edited. Nothing gets deleted mid-tape. What happened is what's on the tape — dog barks, awkward pauses, and all — because that's what makes it feel like a real memory instead of a polished clip.
Every tape ages.
Wow, flutter, and hiss deepen the older a tape gets, the same way a real cassette wears with time. A recording from three years ago sounds worn in a way that mirrors how memory actually feels. No two tapes age quite the same way.
Touch the reels.
Drag to scratch playback in real time. Press and hold to freeze the tape mid-motion. It's live, in-the-moment — never saved, never repeated the same way twice.
A map of memories.
Every recording is quietly tagged with where it happened. Come back later and see your tapes laid out across the places you made them.
Arc Tapes.
Set a future date — a birthday, a milestone, a someday. Record into it over months or years. Once the date arrives, it locks and becomes something to listen to, all at once, start to finish.
Handwritten labels.
Write your tape's name by hand, the way you'd scrawl on a real cassette.
No accounts. No cloud. No sync. Everything stays on your device, exactly as private as a tape in a shoebox.
Taeppl is not a voice memo app with a filter. It's an object — something you make once, put away, and rediscover changed.
Taeppl 1.0.8 introduces new ways to create memories together. Send private Link Tapes back and forth, build Group Tapes with friends, collect Birthday messages, and create Arc Tapes that unlock in the future.
This update also adds improved notifications, clearer library organization, location-sharing controls, smoother tape-label drawing, performance improvements, and many reliability fixes across recording, playback, sharing, and sealing.
