SDR-Receiver is a native and modern macOS app for USB software-defined radios. Plug in an RTL-SDR, HackRF, Airspy, Perseus or Icom IC-R8600 — see the spectrum, listen, and decode. Live-transcribe and Translate. 25+ decoders included. HIGHLIGHTS Listen in another language Tune a foreign broadcast and read it live. Speech is transcribed on the Mac and can be translated as you listen — for example a Chinese station, with English text on screen. Know what you are hearing A built-in frequency list includes the EiBi shortwave database. Tune a signal and Stations at VFO shows which station is on that frequency. Band markers and memory markers The panadapter marks amateur and utility bands from the enabled band plans, and drops a marker on every stored memory. Click a memory marker to recall that frequency. Aircraft and ships on a map Decode ADS-B and AIS and watch planes and vessels move on a live map. ACARS aircraft messages and APRS packet radio are included as well. An inexpensive RTL-SDR is enough Pagers, aircraft traffic, ham digital modes, weather fax, NAVTEX, FM radio text and more can be copied with an inexpensive RTL-SDR stick. Wider-range radios simply cover more of the spectrum. Record the spectrum, explore later Capture the full I/Q stream — not just the audio. Play the recording back, retune inside the captured slice, and run the same decoders you use on the air. Find signals, skip the silence The Scanner hops a range, memories or a frequency list to find activity. The audio recorder can write only when a signal is present, so you keep the traffic and not the quiet gaps. Icom IC-7760 support The IC-7760 transceiver is now a supported receiver. Connect the RF deck's rear USB port and SDR-Receiver streams its I/Q output at 1.92 MHz, with RF gain, attenuator, preamp, IP Plus and antenna selection. Both the Main and Sub receivers can be used — choose which one feeds the panadapter, and each remembers its own tuning. FM de-emphasis A new DE control beside the audio filters selects the FM de-emphasis time constant — Off, 50, 75, 530 or 750 µs — with WFM and NFM each remembering their own. Use 50 µs for broadcast FM outside the Americas and 75 µs inside. Smoother bandwidth control Dragging the bandwidth slider no longer produces crackling in the audio. Wider bandwidth range Narrow FM now reaches down to 2.5 kHz and wide FM down to 50 kHz, for pulling a signal out of a crowded band. Easier gain adjustment Receivers with many discrete gain or attenuator steps now use a slider that snaps to the steps the hardware actually has, instead of a long scrolling list. AIS on both channels AIS can now receive channels A and B at the same time. Vessels alternate between the two, so watching both roughly doubles the traffic you see. RTL-SDR direct sampling RTL-SDR sticks with the hardware modification — and the Blog V3, which has it built in — can bypass the tuner and receive 0–14.4 MHz directly.
