Cutvey Viewfinder shows directors, cinematographers and camera crews the frame of the camera and lens they are shooting on, live on iPhone and iPad, wherever they are standing: on the tech scout, in the production office or on set. Try every lens in the package, plan for the light, block the scene with stand-ins and leave with a shot list the whole crew can read.
SEE THE SHOT
Frame any combination of camera, recording mode and lens, live, in the shape it will record. Work in spherical or anamorphic, cine, broadcast, stills or film, from 722 camera bodies with 2,309 recording modes and 707 lens series with 3,926 lenses. Trust the frame lines: sensor sizes and lens data come from the manufacturers' own specifications wherever available, and the frame is worked out from your iPhone or iPad's own field of view. The app picks the right built-in camera for each lens and draws a clear band wherever a lens is wider than the device can see. Add your own cameras, lenses and adapters, and name your lenses: the hero 50, the soft 32.
YOUR WHOLE LENS PACKAGE
See every lens in your kit as frame lines on a single picture with Overview, and settle on the 32 or the 40 before anyone opens a case. Mix primes from different sets, add a speed booster or an extender, and save the package as a favorite.
LIGHT AND LOOK
See the sun's path over the location, hour by hour, with golden and blue hour to the minute, and plan a place you haven't been yet from its coordinates, on any day of the year. Grade live with lift, gamma and gain wheels, temperature and tint, your own .cube LUTs and Photoshop curves, then save a look and bring it back on the shoot day.
BLOCK AND PLAN
Place stand-in figures sized for the lens and the distance. Check depth of field for the lens and stop you're on: near, far, total and hyperfocal, in meters or feet. Frame for vertical delivery with a true 9:16 viewfinder, cropped from the wide frame or with the camera turned on its side.
EVERY SHOT REMEMBERS ITS LENS
Capture stills and takes with frame lines and an info strip, with the camera, lens and field of view written into every file. Organize them by project and scene, trim takes and add title cards. Export a PDF shot list as a contact sheet, two to a page, or one to a page with time, GPS, bearing and a map code.
ON EVERY DEVICE YOU CARRY
Scout with iPhone in your pocket, then go through the day on iPad's large display with your DP. Use iPad in landscape, or upright in vertical mode, alongside your other apps. On Apple Watch, fire the shutter, start a take and step through your lenses with the Digital Crown. Send a clean feed to an external monitor or an AirPlay screen for the whole room.
PART OF CUTVEY
On the same scout, Cutvey Meter reads the light and tracks the sun. Cutvey Teleprompter puts the script in front of the lens on the shoot day. Cutvey Offload for Mac copies and verifies the cards when the day wraps, and the Cutvey app runs the production office behind all of it.
THE FINE PRINT
Cutvey Viewfinder is a viewfinder, not the camera. The frame is as accurate as its sources: devices vary a little from one to the next, and a lens's marked focal length is nominal. MEASURE in Settings tunes it to your device. Where a drone or action-camera maker publishes only a field of view, the frame follows it. Depth of field is a convention, not a measurement, and focus breathing isn't modeled. Camera and lens names are trademarks of their respective owners, used only to identify the equipment.
One purchase unlocks it for good, or sign in with an active Cutvey membership. No ads. No third-party tracking. Your shots, notes and locations stay on your devices unless you share them. Available in 41 languages.
