Book Eating Dog

Turn Any Book Into a Word Game

Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.

Reading is the one thing your phone never made fun. Book Eating Dog fixes that. Open a book and a pixel dog trots along the line you are reading, eating each word as it goes. Important words turn into candy, so steer the dog into them. Distracting ones turn into bombs, so tap to jump. Finish a page and the whole thing has been devoured. WHY IT WORKS - The dog sets the pace, so you stop re-reading the same sentence. - Your eyes track a moving target instead of drifting off the page. - Key terms are highlighted automatically, so the words that matter get your attention first. READ WHAT YOU ALREADY HAVE - Import PDF, EPUB, Word (.docx), Markdown and plain text. - Share a document or a web page from any other app straight into Book Eating Dog and start reading immediately. - Files are parsed on your device and stay on your own bookshelf. IT READS OUT LOUD Every line is spoken as the dog walks it, at a speed solved to match the walk, so the voice and the game never drift apart. Change the pace whenever you like and the narration follows. A LIBRARY, INCLUDED Outside mainland China, dozens of complete public-domain books ship with the app in English and Chinese. Full texts, not samples. Read them offline, right now, without an account. BUILT FOR FOCUS - No ads, no account, no tracking. - Works entirely offline. - Chunky pixel art and crisp retro sound. - Bilingual interface: English and Simplified Chinese. Feed the dog. Finish the book. MEMBERSHIP Unlock everything with Annual, an auto-renewing yearly subscription that starts with a 3-day free trial for eligible new subscribers, or Lifetime, a one-time purchase. Introducing Book Eating Dog membership. • Read with the 1-Year Pass, which starts with a 3-day free trial for eligible new subscribers and renews yearly, or the one-time Lifetime Bone. • New in Settings: switch bombs or candies off (no bombs, no game over), and choose the pixel or system font. • Pause and hide the panel to read the page in peace. • PDFs open in seconds, even very large ones: pages are read as you go, and paragraphs no longer break in the middle of a sentence. • Scanned PDFs: the text on image-only pages is recognized on the device, with its progress shown. Jump to any page from Contents and reading starts there. • Bombs no longer appear as the first word of a line or on the first line of a new page. • Got Book Eating Dog before it moved to the subscription model? Lifetime is already unlocked for you. Nothing to buy or restore. • Settings now shows your membership, with Restore Purchases and Contact & Feedback.
