Wavesong measures your contractions against the rule your own provider gave you. Not a generic rule someone put in an app: the one you were actually told. Tap once when a contraction starts and once when it ends. Wavesong tracks frequency, duration and the start to start interval, watches the whole last hour, and tells you in plain words how close you are.
