Real AppKit, not a web page in a wrapper. No Electron, no background browser, no bundled Chromium.
Nothing leaves your Mac
No account, no sign-up, no analytics, no telemetry, no third-party SDKs. MarketBar runs in Apple's App Sandbox and requests exactly one permission: outgoing network access. You can verify that yourself.
Live, not refreshed
Prices stream over a WebSocket connection, so the numbers move the moment the market does. No polling delay, no stale quotes.
FEATURES
Your menu bar, your way
Pin one coin, rotate through your watchlist on a timer, or fit several side by side. Show price, change, or both. The direction arrow and the app icon toggle independently.
Alerts that don't nag
Get notified when a price rises above or falls below your threshold, or when a 24-hour gain or loss exceeds what you set. Alerts fire when the threshold is crossed — not over and over while the price hovers there.
Mini charts
Every coin in the panel carries a sparkline: 24 hours at hourly resolution, or 7 days at 4-hour resolution.
Red-up or green-up
Switch the color convention to match how you read prices.
Ready when you are
Launch at login. MarketBar reconnects cleanly after your Mac wakes from sleep, backing off exponentially on retries, with a freshness watchdog so a stale price never sits on screen pretending to be live.
Fully localized
English and Simplified Chinese, switchable in Settings.
