AI Insect Field Notes
Photograph a bug. Offline
Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
No subscription. A one-time purchase, and it is yours.
Photograph an insect and an AI inside your device suggests candidate names. The photo never leaves this device. It works with no connection at all.
[Take, choose, and your collection grows]
- From the camera or your album, the AI offers candidate names (candidates are a guide, nothing more)
- Tap the one you think is right and it is kept as a record
- If none of them fit, "record without a name" lets you keep it anyway
- When it cannot offer a candidate with confidence, it offers none. It does not force a guess
[45 field-guide cards]
- Grouped into four: around the house, garden and flowerbed, park and meadow, and camping, hills and rivers
- Size / season / where you may meet it / how to tell it apart / how it lives / a small surprising fact / sources, written from scratch for each one
- The guide can be read without taking any photo
[About insects that may sting or irritate]
- When such a creature appears among the candidates, the display switches to a caution card instead of the usual list
- What it tells you goes only as far as "please do not handle it with bare hands" and "if you are stung or your skin reacts, do not rely on this result - see a medical professional"
- It does not describe symptoms, first aid steps, or medicines. This app does not judge whether something is venomous or how dangerous it is
[Made to be safe to use]
- Photos and records are kept inside this device only (nothing is sent anywhere)
- No account needed
- No ads
- Location is not used
- Both the AI and the guide work with no connection
[What the one-time purchase opens]
- The fuller "how to find it" and "what to look for" guidance on each card
- Photo suggestions, guide cards and records are all usable without buying anything
[Being honest]
- The AI's candidates are a guide based on a photo. It can be wrong, and it is not a guarantee of identification
- The guide includes not only insects but also creatures you meet as everyday "bugs", such as spiders and woodlice
- The guide currently holds 45 kinds. Anything not in it cannot be found here
