SIGN UP WITHOUT A PHONE NUMBER OR E-MAIL
Create a permanent account with a nickname and a password. Umbera never asks for your phone number, never reads your contacts and never uploads your address book.
SAFE BY DESIGN
• People can message you only after you accept their contact request — there is no random matching with strangers and no public feed.
• Report any message or user in two taps; the reported message disappears from your chat immediately.
• Block anyone from the chat menu, a message or a contact card; block group members too.
• Abusive messages, names and previews are hidden by a built-in filter.
• Our moderation team reviews every report within 24 hours, removes objectionable content and suspends or permanently bans offending accounts.
• Umbera is for adults 18+. Community rules: zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users.
END-TO-END ENCRYPTION BUILT FOR THE FUTURE
Messages, files and calls are encrypted on your device using post-quantum algorithms (ML-KEM-1024 and Dilithium signatures), so your conversations stay unreadable even once quantum computers arrive.
SEALED DELIVERY
Messages reach our server already sealed: the server cannot read them, and delivered messages are removed.
CALLS
Voice and video calls run peer to peer and are encrypted. Group conferences are supported.
TOR WITH ONE SWITCH
All app traffic can be routed through the built-in Tor client to hide your IP address.
FILES, PHOTOS AND VOICE NOTES
Encrypted on your device and deleted from the server automatically.
APP LOCK
Protect the app with a PIN, Touch ID or Face ID. Your conversation history lives on your device only.

Umbera Premium is an auto-renewable subscription: 1 month, 3 months, 6 months or 12 months of full access, with a free trial where offered. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. The subscription renews automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel it in your Apple Account settings.
