iPhone
Free for 30 photo guesses a month. Point the camera at lunch and get a rough number. No account to make, and no numbers pretending to be exact.
Counting calories is miserable. Weighing rice. Searching a database for "sandwich". Confirming five screens. Ballpark skips all of it: take a photo, get a rough number, get on with your day. It won't be exact. Neither is your dinner. But you'll roughly know how you're doing, which is the part that matters.
No account, and nothing to set up. You open it and the camera is already pointed at lunch.
How it goes
You open the app and you're already in the camera. Tap the shutter. A card slides up with the dish, a rough number like ~780, and the range it probably sits in. It saves itself, and there's an undo button for when the guess is nonsense.
That's two taps. Nothing to search or confirm, and no plate on a scale.
When it's wrong, tell it
One line does it. Type or hold the mic and say "the rice was half that", or "nah, it's a lamb kebab, huge one", and it has another go. Three chips do the quick version: smaller, about right, bigger.
You can skip the photo entirely and just say what you ate, which is handy for the sandwich you already finished.
Rough on purpose
Every number comes with a range and a hand-drawn wavy line that gets wavier the less sure it is. No decimals and no percentages. Nothing here pretends to be exact. Streaks count the days you logged something, never how you ate, and one missed day a week gets quietly patched.
Estimates are rough and can be off, sometimes well off. That's why you get a range and not one confident number. They aren't medical or dietary advice. If you need real precision, there are good apps for that and we'd rather you used one.
Why rough is enough
Studies of food diaries keep finding the same dull thing: how often you log is what predicts whether it does anything for you, and how exactly you log mostly isn't. Paper diaries underreport badly and they helped anyway. The hard part was never the arithmetic, it's logging on a Tuesday when you're tired and late, so that's the part this is built around.
What's free
30 photo guesses a month, forever, plus as much typing and talking as you like. The counter is on screen before you run out, so the wall is never a surprise. No account, no email address.

Your food log stays on your phone
Meals, photos, notes and numbers live in a database on your device. We don't keep a copy. Asking for an estimate sends the photo off to another company's model to be identified. We don't keep a copy, and nobody is building a library of your lunches. The privacy policy spells out exactly who sees what. Delete the app and your log goes with it.
